Charlie and his wife run this Mexican restaurant. Their food is very good and they are always friendly! We have been going here for years and will continue to do so whenever we can!

When Charlie's opened back in the mid 1990s the food was fantastic. Over the years I've been there numerous times and made a point of taking out of town visitors for a great meal. The last time we were there the food was barely edible. I don't know what changed but you can rest assured that Charlie's is NOT what... More

We used to love Charlie's and were frequent patrons for many years due to the wonderful food and prompt, friendly service. After he moved locations and shut down for a while it was great to see him back at his original Port Moody location. Alas, time does not always make the heart grow fonder. We waited an hour - yes,... Honestly, we were drawn by two children demanding deep fried ice cream. That's on the menu along with dishes you'd expect. But don't expect Taco Bell style fast food. The salsa picante is obviously made on site judging by the less than perfectly chopped cilantro. The tortilla chips and salsa (~$5) are tasty. Some larger restaurants would put a bowl... More

This restaurant used to be on the opposite side of St. John's Street in Port Moody. It had a vibrant atmosphere. Since they moved to across the street, the place is cramped and dull. The food is not particularly unforgettable, but it's the only Mexican restaurant for miles, so I guess that's why they are still in business.

We finally gave Charlie's a try, big mistake. The portions are small for Mexican, and no spice at all. I had the fajita (should be safe right?), the beef was unseasoned, and they included fried tomatoes with the green peppers and onions, it came with tiny (mcdonalds ketcup containers) of cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and the mildest hot sauce I... Quite authentic and good portions. A bit more expensive than they used to be and fewer items to choose from but this is still our local go to for Mexican. Charlie is always very happy and a great host. His wife makes killer Margaritas!

Never having been to Mexico maybe I am not best placed to give a top review but the two young ladies sitting opposite speaking Spanish seemed as happy as we were with the food. I had the Enchiladas, one chicken, one beef and they were excellent. The owner is Mexican and was serving when we visited. We will definitely be... More
