Guu always impresses. It’s been a couple years since I’ve been here last but it was everything I remember. From the takoyaki to the ebi mayo to the sake mojito, you really can’t miss. Thanks again Guu! We will be back!

I met a friend here for drinks and nibbles, and it was fantastic. There was a good selection of good beer, and the food knocked my socks off. If you want some delicious small plates you could go further wrong.

Service was nice, but food was sub par. Not authentic at all, Okonomiyaki was smothered in mayo & offered with cheese which we skipped and should have been the sign to avoid this, cod collar had barely any meat on it, drinks overly sugared with...More

What a terrible disappointment. We took family from out of town for what we expected to be a great izakaya experience, and other than the hearty enthusiastic traditional greeting from the kitchen, nothing was up to par. We were essentially ignored by all servers, the...More

The restaurant is very small and popular so turnover is quite quick but you don’t feel rushed. The food is tasty and the portions generous. The problem is that because of the size of the space and the constant communication between wait and cook staff...More

What do Asians do on Xmas day, December 25th? Eat asian food!!! This was meal 2 of the day, a cozy dinner with my cousins. My first was a filling Chinese greasy lunch with the parentals. The big day finally arrived with snow, and I...More

Guu Original is worth visiting both for the food, which is creative and authentic in its appeal, and the atmosphere, which is undeniable interactive, loud, and fun. Worth waiting in line for. Suggest getting a bar seat for the most fulsome experience.

In Vancouver for a few days and my daughter and partner chose “Guu Origina”l as the place to go in the downtown area.. We arrived without reservations shortly after it opened for dinner and the fairly small dining area was already more than two-thirds filled...More

This place offers traditional Japanese food with the traditional environment such as loud welcome and departure greetings. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. First round of tea was cold. Seating is somewhat limited so be prepared to sit on bar stools and eat on the...More

Definitely enjoyed my time in this izakaya. The place has very limited seating so I would advise that you come in early if you are really hungry and want to eat right away. My friend and I shared a lot of different dishes and they...More

West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines
verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with
Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a
paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and
perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most
languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset
Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to
take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along
