My husband and I have been to Tojos a few times over the past decade. The first time was probably ten years ago and we have tried dozens of other sushi restuarants around the world since then and always compared them to the great food we had at Tojos. So, we naturally had high expectations when we returned to Tojos... More

The food at Tojo's is excellent. The staff is efficient and attentive. The surroundings are very nice. It is simply too expensive. At present, a spicy tuna roll costs $20; a Pacific Northwest roll, $26. They are very tasty, but given the ingredients, it's hard to justify such prices; other than the fact that there are some people prepared to... More

Tuesday night visit with friends. Reservations. Several large tourist parties, couples, and some neighbors. Very gracious waitress in kimono and obi. Japanese accent. A little confusing. We all had Chef's choice. First dish 3 Tuna Ball was so flavorful I wanted it for all courses. Next 2 courses were fine but quite subtle and a more refined Japanese food palate... More

Very over rated, food was average. Nothing spectacular. Paid a lot for average food. Was not WOWED. Not kid friendly. On the upside, bathroom was clean. Good and prompt service. Save your money, go elsewhere.

I cannot claim to be a sushi expert, so my review cannot speak to the excellence of the preparations. Everything was beautifully presented and I am sure represented the highest form of its craft. It was sooo expensive, though, that I couldn't help feeling they pushed their price point a bit higher than was reasonable. I also didnt care for... More

We had the funniest server and everyone was really nice. Sushi is EXPENSIVE! but delicious. I recommend splurging on Tojo's menu $80/person. It is an experience you will not soon forget. AND GO ON YOUR BIRTHDAY FOR A SPECIAL BIRTHDAY SONG!!!!

Sad to see so many reviews here calling Tojo's a 'tourist trap.' That phrase is best reserved for the Fisherman's Inn next to the No Tell Motel in Myrtle Beach, not for a tremendous dining experience like we had! Of course, we were tourists, but we didn't mind spending money. I could understand someone just looking for "good, fresh sushi"... More

No one in North America does Japanese like Tojo-san. Simply order the Omakase and put yourself in the chef's hands...oh, and sit at the bar, not in the booth...watch the master at work. Let them pair your food with their exceptional sake selections. Not cheap but ohhhh, so worth the trip.

Someone told me that Tojo's was the best sushi in Vancouver so I had very high expectations. Unfortunately, my expectations were not even close to met. The cost was VERY high ($25+ per roll - $150 for 2 with only 2 beers between the two of us) and not at all worth it, in my opinion. I'm a salmon fan... More

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighbourhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
