This was recommended to us by a Vancouver local for the excellent food. And yes, the food was great in terms of both quality and quantity. But the highlight was the banter from the waiter (or as he preferred to be called waitress). Our kids (5, 7, & 9) seemed pretty oblivious to the innuendos and f-words all around. But... More

My wife and I are from Chicago but we were vacationing in Seattle and thought it would be cool to venture into Canada for the first time. We rented a car, drove to Vancouver, found a random parking lot, then decided to look for a place to eat. We had no idea where we were going nor were we looking... More

Didn't get any of the infamous service, but did receive an awesome, hefty breakfast! It was huge and didn't break the bank. A must when craving a good old breakfast platter

I had so much fun at this restaurant! The waiter was absolutely hilarious, and even though he was busy, he was very attentive. The food was incredible as well! Overall, it was definitely a place to visit, the whole experience was great!

A breath of fresh air in a world gone pc mad, from the guy who ate his meal after a dancing chicken had been placed on his head to the lovely (opinionated😊)guy serving tables.

Good food! Creative menu! Awesome banter and fun! :) Love the 2 owners. Don't go if you are offended by curses though but otherwise it's a must do in Vancouver.

We were there as a family with 2 children in our group so we were shocked at the language. We weren't there 3 minutes before the F bomb was dropped several times. It's ok for adults I think but children shouldn't have to hear this. I asked our server to watch his language around our kids & he did try!... More

After reading so many online reviews I took my best friend to The Elbow Room cafe for breakfast. Honestly I was worried I'd have rude and personal insults hurled at me the second I walked through the door but that wasn't it at all. If you don't like cussing don't go. It's a very simple and clearly outlined message. We... More

We went to the restaurant not knowing what we were getting into. As we stood waiting to be seated we heard some swearing and sarcasm. We finally "got it" We had a lot of laughs! The service was great, the serving sizes were huge. The owner went above and beyond! If we had one more day, we would have definitely... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
