Ever since I was a student at UBC, this has been my favourite place to eat. Now I live in Toronto, ON, but every time I visit Vancouver, I religiously go and visit Candia. Their friendly service and ambience are really nice. My favourite thing to eat there is baked spaghetti with tomato sauce. Yes, they do have a vegetarian... More

Born and bread Greek and transplanted Vancouverite for the last 30 years, I always shake my head when I go to many Greek restaurants in Vancouver where they think that Greek food is a small piece of meat on a pile of re-warmed rice accompanied by frozen veggies and an imitation "Greek" salad! I've been to Candia Taverna, oh, maybe... More

I've lived in the neighbourhood for about 35 years and this is our go to restaurant. The food is always delicious, the prices reasonable, there is something for everyone on the menu and service is always excellent. There is a good reason this place has lasted so long! They have an early bird special daily from 4:30-5:30 p.m., when their... More

We came to Candia Taverna tonight to celebrate the life of a good friend who is ailing. She was there and the spirit was great. The staff helped us crowd into the restaurant and served our dinners efficiently and quickly. The food was hot and very generous, the drinks were cold and big. At our table we all had the... More

Candia is a neat place to have in the neighbourhood. The staff are friendly and helpful. The menu is diverse and well-priced. Even better, the food is tasty and is delivered promptly. In a city of fabulous restaurants, this one is not spectacular. But it is above average and of good value.

They were very busy when we went there Monday night for our 13th wedding anniversary dinner with wife & two kids. Seated right away and the two waitresses were moving fast to get everything done, so that is commendable. The Greek salad was huge and had lots of goat cheese and fresh veg which we loved. They had a mix... More

When I met one of my friends at the UBC campus we went to the area on uphill 10th Street (I don’t know how that area is called, I believe it’s West Point Grey). It was pretty rainy. So we rushed to find a restaurant that looked interesting enough to enter it. We ended up in “Candia Taverna”. The menu... More

Staying in West Point Grey

Neighbourhood Profile
West Point Grey
West Point Grey is one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, especially known for its easygoing and admired beachfronts. Locals crowd the Spanish Banks and Jericho Beach, especially in the summer, where a sprawling view of the English Bay awaits. The central village is an oasis of sovereign shops, many of them in local operation for years. The neighbourhood has a more personal feeling to it, and can be a wonderful and much-needed break from the bustle of big-city life, being a little haven of peace and quiet with an almost village temperament in the heart of Vancouver.
