My wife and I visited this restaurant to celebrate her birthday. We were looking for a quiet and refined dinner without the usual hard surface noise and clatter we have found in many new restaurants. We were delighted, choosing to sit in the lovely courtyard. We were there during the dine out Vancouver promotion and chose a three course dinner selection for... More

Four of us went for the Dine Out menu. Good food and attentive staff. The lamb bacon salad and pickled pineapple pork belly appetizers were both fabulous. We had sable fish and duck for mains which were both fine but not nearly as interesting as the appetizers.

This restaurant has a gorgeous atmosphere, very romantic and the food is fantastic. My fiancé is allergic to onions and normally when we eat out he gets a second rate meal but here, it wasn't even an issue and he enjoyed a wonderful dinner. A bit pricey so go prepared, but if you are expecting that it is definitely worth... More

Aaron was a fantastic server. The hostess and manager were of the most attentive and quick to serve as we have ever experienced in Vancouver. We both had the table d'hote menu. Very happy with our meals. Excellent risotto with the lamb shank. We enjoyed champagne and a couple wine flights from the well composed wine list. Tip. If a... More

Just bad. Service terrible. Food, pretentious but nothing special. Big shame as the building is stunningly beautiful.

This was a very disappointing evening. There is seating downstairs and upstairs as well as patios on both levels. We were seated on the upstairs level. The upstairs is the more formal of the two with white linen tablecloths and a more formal atmosphere. They have a couple of tables on the outside patio upstairs and they looked very nice.... More

It is a quaint restaurant with an amazing patio. We were here in December and in order to get a table we chose to sit outside on the patio, which is completely enclosed with great heaters, and blankets...did not regret our choice. The food is fabulous, I had the sable fish and my husband had the butcher block special. well... More

This is my second review of Brix & Mortar. On our first visit, it was just my wife and myself, but, this time, there were 10 of us - siblings and cousins. We had a number of calls back and forth with the restaurant confirming numbers and getting the table we wanted - in their ground floor covered courtyard. We... More

Very attentive service and interesting menu. The lamb bacon salad was quite possibly the best salad I've ever had. The butternut squash soup was excellent, as was the lamb shank. My partner and I both ordered the table d'hote and were not disappointed! Great choices and great value.

A Yaletown icon for 15+ years, Brix Restaurant has said goodbye to its downstairs cocktail lounge, George, and brought the newly renovated space together with Brix under one roof and one new name - Brix & Mortar. With the new concept comes a refreshed food and beverage program-including 60+ wines by the glass-offered with the same on-point service, starting at 5:00 pm daily. The new menu features modern Canadian cuisine with subtle French, Italian and Asian influences and locally sourced ingredients. Accessible from both Homer and Hamilton St., Brix & Mortar offers 228 seats, with 80 situated over two outdoor patios, including the iconic outdoor courtyard-a favourite for hosted events and weddings. The downstairs space has undergone an exciting redesign, creating a fine-dining room suitable for any occasion or appetite.

Staying in Yaletown & False Creek North

Neighbourhood Profile
Yaletown & False Creek North
Yaletown has risen from the ashes of its rough-and-tumble industrial past into one of Vancouver's new chicest neighbourhoods. The place responsible for originating of the phrase 'skid row' might not call to mind independently-owned boutiques and terraced cafes, but having swallowed the waterfront lines of False Creek North, the resulting amalgamation transformed the area into an elegant, stylish hotspot with a view. Its youthful vibe owes to the many young families and young professionals who live there, bolstering nightlife and restaurant variety along its cobbled streets. It is the flagship neighbourhood for modern revitalization, and the It-Spot for boutique hotels and modish eats.
