Dinner at Bishop's is a gem of an experience. For many years they were among the most expensive restaurants in town and well known for their outstanding meals, great wine list and seamless, personable 5 star service. Every YVR restaurant wanted to be able to duplicate the Bishop's experience but no one came close. Today the restaurant continues to offer... More

Bishop's defines "informal elegance"; I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to dine at Bishop's during my visit to Vancouver. Ever-so wonderful food and service.

We took our auntie to dinner at Bishops for her birthday and met up with two others at the restaurant. What a fantastic evening! The food was outstanding, as usual, the wine was wonderful and the service was FANTASTIC!!! Auntie was over the moon with the attention paid to her and the chef even came out to meet her as... More

My wife and I were treated to our 40th wedding anniversary dinner by our children. We could not have asked for a better dinner venue. The ambience was delightful. The staff was incredible and John Bishop made sure that we were made to feel at home and special. Most importantly, the four-course meal was fabulous. We have found our new... More

This is a Vancouver restaurant icon that is the longest running high end place in the city. It has survived due to its reputation and consistently great service and quality of food. A perfect place for special occasions. Make a reservation. Parking is available on the street although it is metered. Very subdued interior with low level lighting so has... More

We were very pleased. Although this restaurant describes itself as 'North American Contemporary', it seemed altogether French to us. Not just the meal, but the overall professionalism exhibited by the servers, maître d', and other staff. It is a formal setting for Vancouver yet without the maddeningly compressed seating or clamor that seems to characterize other top-end spots. The cocktails... More

We used to go to Bishops when it first opened and we lived in Point Gray. We hadn't been for years since we moved out of Vancouver but had my husband's 80th Birthday dinner there in May. The food at Bishops was amongst the first to be 'locally sourced' and it still is. The food is delicious and reliable, well... More

We tend to avoid Dine Out because the restaurants are often too busy, the servers rushed, the guest expectations exceed what's possible and the food is ok but not great. BUT, Bishop's restored our faith in Dine Out and reminded us that it's the place to go for a special dinner. John Bishop greeted us at the door and was... More

The restaurant is Vancouvers oldest restaurant, cliental more older type. The Food was good but not excellent my expectations that it would be perfect but they weren't. I found the there were two many servers looking after you, for example host greeted us, then server took my order, another did water and bread, then another one brought our starters and... More

Bishop's is a constant option for fine dining in Vancouver for me. As an out-of-town visitor it has been my go-to option for entertaining close friends and valued clients for thirty plus years. The accent is on well-prepared and plated West Coast cuisine. A comfortable two-level space, white table cloths, quality china, crystal and cutlery; and assured and discrete service... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
