I've been vegetarian for over 5 years now and I love eating out. Over the years I've eaten at a lot of places, some fancy, some lucky finds. Of all the places the experience we had at The Acorn Restaurant was up there, if not the best. The place was full when we arrived, they don't take bookings for parties... More

We walked in on a Wednesday evening around 6pm and we didn't have to wait long for a table although we noticed a wait for tables after we had been seated. Ordered the kale Caesar salad with tempeh too start, as well as the caramelized onion pastry with berry vinaigrette. We shared a main course of the beer battered halloumi... More

The Acorn was such a pleasant surprise for someone like me who is vegetarian and sometimes likes something a little out of the ordinary. The staff were friendly and knowledgable, the atmosphere was cozy and intimate and the food was fantastic. The menu was so creative and featured locally sourced ingredients wherever possible...the food was amazing! We were also impressed... More

Admission up front...I am not a vegetarian , my daughter is. But The Acorn might convert me if I could go there all the time , alas I don't live in Vancouver. The menu is very creative - each dish is built around a main vegetable, eg. Squash, mushrooms, etc. with lots of interesting add-ons , herbs and accompanying vegetables.... More

Stayed downtown for a conference and was curious to check out a different neighborhood and had read strong reviews of the Acorn. I was not disappointed. A well appointed restaurant that was keyed to warmth and simple culinary sophistication that was not overly pretentious. The food was excellent and I never felt as though I had eaten too much which... More

After finding my other choices on Main Street either closed down (The Foundation) or way too busy (Slickity Jim's), we decided to try The Acorn for brunch based on the suggestion of a barista in the neighbourhood. So glad! Nice decor and atmosphere, excellent service, and creative, considered dishes. I had the waffle with deep fried artichokes (wow!) and a... More

We loved the vegetarian cuisine, every dish we tried was fabulous - creative cuisine well executed and beautifully presented. We also loved the service, the staff were really nice, knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive. Lots of interesting options on their menu.

I ate at Acorn on a recent trip into Vancouver. It was suggested by a business associate. The restaurant is a small, beautiful space with limited seating. Staff is attentive, informed and friendly. The standout, of course, is the food. I very rarely eat vegetarian but it was a great experience. The food is beautifully plated, innovative and delicious. However,... More

I had read reviews on this restaurant and was determined to try it. It was definitely worth the effort on a recent two day break in Vancouver. We went for dinner and arrived at opening time on Monday evening. The servers were very thorough and enthusiastic with details of menu items. Complimentary sparkling water was offered. The on tap beer... More

Staying in South Main

Neighbourhood Profile
South Main
South Main, or SoMa, is a neighbourhood in upswing. Inhabited by young humanitarian professionals in converted lofts and studio apartments, what was once an industrial centre is now a wellspring of vintage and eco fashion shops, contemporary sawdust-floor galleries, craft beer joints, and basement acting studios. All set to an Art Deco background with a strong blue collar sensibility underpinning each new pop-up and foodie trend, SoMa is on the rise.
