We are so glad our friend recommended the Sardine Can. We sat at the bar and enjoyed tapas presented artistically and each one was a delight. Yum!!

The food was tasty and the staff were very relaxed. It was my first time ever having something like tapa and that gave me a very good description of what to expect

Been meaning to write this down. First time at this great little spot. The service was on point, attentive but allowing space for guests, food was delicious and shareable. We enjoyed some sparkling wine and the view of the neighbourhood. Recommend to all locals! Great experience.

You have to squeeze in here and sit on stools at narrow tables! It's fun and the food is generally good. My only criticism of the food is that they are a bit too liberal with the Chillies. I don't go to Tapas Bars to eat Chillies, and in that respect it is not quite right. The additional problem is... More

We were staying at a condo nearby and dragged our teenagers reluctantly out one evening in June for dinner. We all loved it- very fun and welcoming hosts. Good food, interesting small plates, and delicious and unusual wines. We probably had about 10 dishes among the four of us. The best meal out we had on our week in Vancouver.

We were hungry for tapas and we found the Sardine Can online. Janine was very knowledgeable about the wine selection and we had some absolutely great food. The place is small and informal and we recommend that you give it a go. We had some patron peppers, Catalan flatbread and a gambas dish. All were excellent.

Tiny little gorgeous tapas bar with delicious wine and brilliant food. My favourite was the sizzling garlic prawns. Some of the best I've ever tasted. It's also nice to sit at the bar and watch everything being prepared.

Stopped in for a small bite and a drink and were very impressed with the food offerings. The flavors and quality of the dishes were very good. The location is small and it is obviously a challenge at times trying to get a seat. We appreciated to open kitchen and the cooks seemed very comfortable plying their craft. The server... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
