good service and wine & beer selection, but lacking in food preparation. wings were overcooked and tiny., fish tacoes were good, but felt like drinks came over food here. first meal in town and we were underwhelmed. Cactus club so much better and in same neighbourhood.

Saw a rib of beef advertised with mash potato, Yorkshire pudding and carrots. Was a wonderful meal accompanied by some great beer and very good service

We were looking for a quick bite before we had to return to our ship. We weren't overwhelmed by the outside or inside to start with - it's looks like an English pub and has pinball machines on one wall and a pool table. However once inside and sat down we met amazing engaging staff, ate simple but tasty food... More

Some recent reviews raised questions about the place, but don't be deterred. It's a big friendly pub with lots of sports screens and typical noise, but not over-the-top loud (at least it wasn't too bad around 6 pm). We tried a Broccolini & Brie pizza ($14) and the featured turkey burger with spicy peanut satay sauce ($18). Both looked great... More

Great food and beer, but the server completely ignore us for about 20 min, which is ridiculous. However, the music is really good, the presentation of the dishes and starters are great. Also if you are looking for a place to watch a game, that's a great place to go, tvs everywhere and big tables to accommodate big groups.

Great service and delicious food. I had the fish and chips. Others had the hamburger, and the buffalo chicken wings. All were very good, and the server was super friendly and happy to be working with us.

It's been a while since I stopped in. The place got a facelift. Friends bar staff. Great craft beer. I think I had a unique one called postmark. Great place to meet friends when in gastown.

We were lucky enough to be on the guest list last night and were treated like VIP's. Tyler went above and beyond and created 4 lifelong 19 year old clients of the Donnelley Group establishments. The food was hot, fresh and quick and the server was personable without being over whelming. The hockey game was on for the first while... More

Really nice pub, very wide choice of beer, very friendly service and helpful, good wine by the glass choice, staff very keen to help. All TV's showing baseball, a bit more variety could help - hockey? Rugby? Well located in gas town nice building.

Thank Thomas S

Housed in the historic Dominion Grand Hotel (est. 1899) in Gastown, this pub was renovated in 2007 and retains its original tin-stamped ceilings, exposed brick walls, stained glass windows and railings. The rest of this storied room has been given a grand renovation, including a new sound system and jukebox, classic pub furniture and flatscreen TVs. A long-time favourite Vancouver watering hole, the Lamplighter is the city’s busiest pub for good reason: friendly service, honest local pub fare, a large selection of craft beer and cocktails, comprehensive sports programming, and talented DJs and live bands give the legendary Lamplighter its famed atmosphere.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
