Great beer selection (mostly BC beers). Good menu. We had bangers and fries, the fries are McDonald's like in a good way. The atmosphere wasn't my fav, there was a lot of dance music/club music, and some dudes with frosted tips. So, not the best. But the bar tenders were attentive & quick. They even let some guy charge his... More

I only had one drink here but it was a cute little place to escape the heat! My husband was impressed by the beer selection as well.

Great friendly place. Huge choice of beers on tap. That can be a problem deciding but the barstaff were very helpful with suggestions and I enjoyed a stunning lager whilst my wife was very impressed with a Canadian Chardonnay. Lots of TVs showing sports. It was pretty busy but they found us a space on the bar. We stayed longer... More

Spent an hour or so on our arrival here to top up the hunger pangs. Wrong choice of venue as this place had many TV's , was busy, slow serving food bites but fast serving the beers. We plumped for the Granville island beer and stuck to it during our holiday. We could only stay for about an hour as... More

Good pub with a great selection of draught beers - the Granville Island Lager is particularly good. The food was fine but just pub grub which is what we expected. Really noisy place - not ideal for a quiet evening.

This was an average pub with average service and entrees.Nice enough and fast service but a little distracted as well with the hustle and bustle. One thing I liked was that every seat had a good to great view of the tvs playing the game. However be advised that they DO NOT serve everything on the menu on all nights... More

Opening the beer menu to over 50 beers and lagers... I felt out my depth not being much of a beer or lager drinker but I wanted to try some local alcohol which I'd been recommended to do. Opted for the Red truck on both occasions that we went and it was a good option. The occasions we visited were... More

Had dinner here last night. Summary: beers are good, the food ain't. Chicken wings were dry as anything, and rather than oven cooked they were deepfried...?! Megan our waitress was a nice sight to behold but what she had in assets she lacked in memory.  All in all a better place to go for a drink.

We started off with the spring rolls which were excellent. I ordered the BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato & avocado) sandwich & fries. My husband got the chicken wings & fries. Both of us thought our food was ok. The place is very dark & the music is loud which made it hard to see the menu & we had to... More

Description
Housed in the historic Dominion Grand Hotel (est. 1899) in Gastown, this pub was renovated in 2007 and retains its original tin-stamped ceilings, exposed brick walls, stained glass windows and railings. The rest of this storied room has been given a grand renovation, including a new sound system and jukebox, classic pub furniture and flatscreen TVs. A long-time favourite Vancouver watering hole, the Lamplighter is the city’s busiest pub for good reason: friendly service, honest local pub fare, a large selection of craft beer and cocktails, comprehensive sports programming, and talented DJs and live bands give the legendary Lamplighter its famed atmosphere.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
