We happened upon Oakwood Canadian Bistro after a walk around Granville Market. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. We perched at the bar and Rachel kindly hooked me up with an iced tea. Upon her recommendation, we ordered the sandwich of the day and an eggs Benedict. Portions were big and the meals delicious. This was a wonderful spot for... More

We got to the restaurant just as it was opening on a Sunday morning, to be greeted with warm hearty greetings from the staff, and were seated next to the open fire, we were then treated to an amazing brunch, to the point we didn't eat again until 9:00 in the evening. The staff were great, the food tasted great... More

Well it's a fun little place in the best part of Vancouver: Kitsilano, where hippies hung out in the sixties. It used to be a sports bar, so no wonder we passed by on the other side for a few years. Now it is fun place with great servers, knowledgable and personable. We went with two others, mainly on the... More

This is a real treat of Canadian cuisine in a tapas style. You must try the poutine, a unique twist on this traditional Quebec dish. The warm Kale salad is a favourite for good reason. We also had the salmon which is a must in Vancouver. Make sue to save room for the deserts, there were only 3 choices so... More

We were out shopping in the Kits area and asked for a recommendation from our sales person in a nearby shop and she highly recommended this place - especially the Kale salad. We didn't have a reservation but it was only a 15 minute wait so we decided to stick it out and we were sure glad that we did.... More

We went during Dine Out Vancouver and weren't disappointed. The creativity that went into each dish was only outmatched by the service we received. A true culinary experience but try not to lick the plate as it's that good! The Oakwood has turned into our favorite Restaurant in all of Vancouver.

I have heard many great things about this place so we decided to do the dine out menu as a large group. The service was great, the staff was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with the food. It seemed like our food had been prepared for quite awhile before they took it out, but they were... More

We ate here as a large group and during Dine Out Vancouver '17. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. The food menu was exciting and different so it was fun trying something unusual. I had the wine pairing with my meal for an extra $17. Overall I think the meal was good value for money and would go here... More

We went there for brunch last weekend. The only negative was the wait (25 minutes which was exactly the host's estimate) but this was reasonable as it was about 1pm which is pretty prime for brunch so I'm not really complaining. The waiting area was fine for waiting in and the place is obviously a hot spot so and waiting... More

Everything was outstanding. We came with a big party and booked early with Tristan; he was informative and courteous from the get-go. We enjoyed the 39$ tasting menu and we're all still talking about the lamb belly!!!! Definitely arrive hungry, the portions are generous. A new favourite; we'll be back. Thanks again guys!!!

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
