Authentic French Canadian food good place to watch a game on the tvs all around the room. Montreal smoke meat very nice I suggest the bigger one skip fries not the best poutine I've ever had.... I love poutine. My hands down favourite was a chip truck that traveled between Ottawa & Hull that I patronized almost every day for 3 months. Now in Vancouver, I thought I'd never taste that cheesy gravy goodness ever again. Everyone seems to be on that poutine chipwagon these days: Costco, McDonald's, NY Fries - still unsatisfactory. So, when I... More

Although they have moved from downtown, they are now located at 2470 Main St at Broadway. I've been in the neighborhood for 2 years and never happened upon this gem. A truly French Canadian experience. The menu is great, the food is really delish. They have their liquor license and serve lots of Canadian Beer. I had the hot Chicken... More

Glad I noticed it, though 8 months later. Ordered the classic poutine and a smoke meat sandwich. Instead of making it gourmet, they use St. Hubert brown sauce. With a fair amount of cheese curd and fresh fries, it really tasted the same as how I remember it growing up. The smoke meat was awesome though the cole slaw was... More

Located in the Mount Pleasant area of Vancouver on Main St sits a small diner that is easily missed if you are not paying attention. The House of Poutine is amazing and worthy of your time. The restaurant is small and cozy but feels bigger than it is with two garage door fronts that are open during the day which... More

Visited BC from Winnipeg and was recommended here by a coworker. I love poutine and wasn't sure what to expect. But the atmosphere was inviting and the owner even came to sit with us to chat. The waitress was very attentive, too, and we even shared a moment for our love of One Direction (this was the same day Zayn... More

My husband and I recent discovered Frenchies on Main street and have gone in at least 4 times since. They have a selection of foods ranging from vegetarian-friendly poutine to not-so vegetarian smoked meat sandwhiches. As a vegetarian, I've never had poutine before and was so delighted to get my first experience here! Smothered in gooey curds and vegetarian gravy,... More

Came here after beers with co-workers mid week. Had Montreal smoked meat all around and shared a pouting for the table. Great meat, authentic Montreal Smoked! My wife grew up in Montreal and we know the difference. Owner was on hand and is an interesting chat. We had a slice of pie to end the meal, awesome. Good value for... More

Michel Blais and his big personality have moved as of the fall 2014 to Main just North of Boadway. Smoked meat sandwiches are absolutely firsat rate and put Vancouver Dunn's to shame! Frites are excellent, reminding me of Harvey's in Montreal in the Sixties....really good. Poutine is, well, poutine and totally what you want. Beer selection is marginal but hey,... More

My friend and I may be a little biased, seeing as we love French Canadian culture, but this was an amazing find. We popped in here for coffee and ended up sharing a poutine. Really good, not too greasy and the waitress was really friendly and joked with us. It was a positive experience, and the decor and general atmosphere... More

Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries.
