A group of us were in Vancouver for the night before a ski trip at Whistler and made reservations for Cory Weed's Jazz Cellar to see Joey DeFracesco play on 2/7. It was fantastic (possibly the best live jazz I have ever seen) and, sadly,...More

The four of us love jazz and thought it would be fun to use a $200 gift certificate for a New Years Eve get-together since the Cellar is closing soon. 1. Reservations Jeopardy: Cory Weeds website did not mention the $99/person + tax for the...More

We visited Cellar Jazz Club during the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. I had made a reservation -- they had a package deal for dinner (appetizer and main course) plus fee for the show. Drinks, dessert, etc. were extra. The club itself is small and intimate....More

Definitely a great date night. Service was top shelf, seating perfectly comfortable with good sight-lines for a stage that held the inimitable talents of TimTamashiro and his trio of superb musicians. We sat beside people we didn't know but enjoyed getting to know, though the...More

We visited the Cellar last Friday evening. It's a jazz club located in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver. Down some stairs from the street level and you are in a different world. The place was jammed to the rafters. Someone must have found out who...More

We planned our last night in Vancouver at Cellar Jazz Club - but found the whole experience a bit disappointing. It may have been the band (which was okay but not fantastic) - or the bland food - or waiting 10 minutes in a nearly...More

When my wife and I travel we like to check out jazz clubs in each of the cities we visit. This one is quite good, it has a $20 entrance fee and the food is (surprisingly) very good; my wife can't stop raving about the...More

Not only does the Jazz Cellar have Jazz but at the rare time you can also catch some Blues there. We were fortunate enough to get reservations to see the legendary Jim Byrnes there on Friday night backed up by Jesse Cahill and the Nightcrawlers....More

Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative
neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture
and poetry readings, its days of flower children and
buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving
their mark on the number of organic restaurants and
fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of
Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic
expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a

In 12 years Cory Weeds' Cellar Jazz Club has established itself as not only the top jazz venue in Vancouver, but as one of the top jazz clubs in the world. In an ambitious undertaking, club owner Cory Weeds bought the establishment in the summer of 2000 and quickly turned it into the premier jazz venue in Vancouver. The focus of the club was to promote Vancouver and Canadian jazz musicians. The room has seen visits by every major player from the Vancouver Scene and across Canada. In addition Weeds has brought in many of the major names on the international scene to the club either with their own band or more often then not, to join forces with the best that the Vancouver jazz community has to offer. Some of these international musicians to perform include David 'Fathead' Newman, Tom Harrell, Charles MacPherson, Benny Golson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Ed Thigpen, Kenny Garrett, Les McCann, Scott Hamilton, Joey Defrancesco, George Coleman and Eric Alexander.
