Solid cuisine great spot nice evening bar music and i prefer this place for a bar stop for sports or music apps and a drink. Its functional but uninspired in my opinion for anything else unfortunately.

A healthy allergy of the multiple cafe chains guides me towards small independent coffee houses where there is guaranteed welcome free of corporate cynical welcome smiles. Cardero Bottega has original daring pastries with stunning taste and appearance. A three minute walk from Robson Street brings you to this quiet residential street where this gem is waiting to be discovered.

Had lunch and tried the sablefish which was delicious - seared and cooked to perfection. The staff was accommodating and very attentive. The ambiance is fun and music is offered nightly.

The Cardero Bottega provides a refreshing offering in a city whose retail establishments rarely stray from main roads. The cafe is a funky, neighborhood affair with a handful of tables inside and on a warm sunny day, a few more outside. The coffee is good and the atmosphere great, although true to the general West End, not highly sophisticated in... More

Wow - what a treat. This little coffee place feels a million miles from Vancouver's busy West End. It is quite small - in a cosy, cute way. The patrons are usually locals are more than apt to strike up a conversation. The espresso (runs just under 3.00 for a large double) is very good - no burnt taste, smooth,... More

Got a sandwich to go. Sandwich was fine until the third bite when I pulled a long hair out of my mouth. More than enough said.

Delicious coffee, sandwich and dessert. Friendly service, and a great atmosphere for sitting on a quiet sidewalk surrounded by dog-walkers, friendly cats, beautiful greenery and genuinely happy people. A great spot for lunch or afternoon snack or early evening bite. A real Westend treasure.

I know many places claim to have the best coffee in Vancouver and of course it's a matter of personal taste, but this tiny West End cafe consistently makes coffee tailored to individual preference with a personal touch that beats the rest in my opinion. When I ask for an extra-hot breve latte, that's exactly what I get every time.... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
