My husband and I took a flyer on this restaurant based on the Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed! The service was top notch, fast and engaging. The food was the star. I had the Prawn Plate and my husband had the Halibut Bowden...Bay. One of the best meals we have ever had. Cooked to perfection and the flavours went together well. It is not a cheap meal, we had 6 oysters, 2 entries, 1 beer and 1 Prosecco which came to approximately $150 cdn including tip. I would highly recommend.More

My family and I went to Schooners on a recommendation from our Airbnb host. We were greeted and seated by a friendly host. When our waitress came to our table she didn’t ask us how we were or any personal questions, which was not out...of ordinary but this was our vacation and Schooners is a fairly expensive restaurant. She never asked us if we wanted anything to drink or if we wanted any appetizers and then wanted us to order our entrees. We felt very rushed. I asked her how much smoke flavor the smoked plank salmon had because my daughter was concerned it might have to much smoke flavor and she responded with a very dismissive and insulting answer “how cloudy is a cloudy day”. No matter how good the food was her service left a bad taste in our mouths.More

I had prawns with a double helping of vegetables instead of rice. I requested this. The vegetables were ok although red cabbage is kind of odd pairing with prawns. But my biggest complaint is the prawns. They tasted like they had been rolled in salt....I have had prawns many times in many locations and this is the saltiest version I have ever tasted. There were also hard bits of debris in the prawns themselves. It is not that I didnt pull off the tails properly, as I did. The debris was more imbedded deep inside the prawn. Also it was a very small portion of food for $38. My husband had the burger and that looked fine and he said it was fine except that there was far too much sauce on it and it was very messy and dripping everywhere so he had to use a fork and knife to eat it. The ambiance of the restaurant is ok upstairs but the stairs themselves seemed very worn out. This was not a big deal to us. My biggest disappointment is that the food was far too salty and I felt the price was too high for what I was served. I would not go back nor would I recommend to my friends. I know it’s been in business many years but that is my very honest review. Also I think they should have given me a finger bowl or something as it’s very hard to eat prawns without using your fingers. I am sure if I had asked he would have done this for me…but it wasn’t that important, just seemed like a little extra they should offer without my asking in my opinion. It is hard to complain about anything when the waiter is singing praises of the restaurant from the get go and about how long they have been in business and how they will have line ups out the door as the season progresses. I get it, but my HONEST review is “overpriced and not good taste” Left me almost feeling abit ill due to the excessive amount of salt.More

Recently had the pleasure of an excellent lunch here. From ahi tuna sandwich, to fried oyster burger, to fish tacos every thing was excellent. Homemade coleslaw, beautiful plated meals, and perfect oysters were just some of the reasons for this review plus excellent service .....Jessie made my family feel right at home. Many thanks Highly recommendMore

Came for dinner with friends and the food was superb. My husband still talks about his dish, 4 months later. If we come back to Vancouver again, Tofino is quite a drive but he said he would happily drive that far for the same meal....Pictures attached.More

We had a great experience with the friendly staff at The Schooner. The menu was, as always, a variety of classic dishes including the superb French onion soup and the salmon that I ordered. It was a fun evening with family. We’ll be back asap.

We weren’t sure what we were in for when we entered this boisterous. old school eatery. The host was nowhere to be found, but the other folks waiting told us he was rearranging their dining room to accommodate them. (They had reserved four, and showed...up with a party of five.) We’re glad we waited. The food was delicious: my wife had the gnocchi special (the best she’s had) and I the “simply halibut” (there were a whole lot of flavors on that plate). And their long-time server Zack was a real character, adding even more local flavor to the experience.More

It was very noisy and overpriced, although the food was excellent and taste. It was hard to enjoy the food with that much noise. Even the servers had to shout to be heard as did we had our table, and this is with tables spread...out from Covid distancing. I was OK with the pricing until I went to another restaurant later on and found out that the exact same beer what’s 3/4 of the price at the other restaurantMore

Friendly local restaurant in the centre of Tofino. Customers were a mix of locals (always a good sign) and tourists. We ate at 7pm. There was a queue of waiting customers who obviously hadn’t made a reservation when we left. Food was excellent (local halibut...and Catface (Catface is a local landmark) seafood pasta preceded by a shared tomato bruschetta. Big portions! Service was great, efficient, friendly. Has non-alcoholic beers. There’s an outdoor deck, and two or three indoor rooms. We were in the roomy upstairs bar.More

Booked, turned up on time, taken to table - over 20 minutes before we could just order a drink, never mind receiving a drink. Definite feeling of staff being more important than the customers. We felt ignored in a restaurant that was not busy. The...bottle of wine came. He poured a drop in my partners glass for her to taste and just filled my glass as she was tasting it. No interest in us or what he was doing. Ordered a "Naked" steak and it came covered in onions - hardly Naked. The server tried to joke it off by saying we would need to order a "porn star steak" to have one with nothing on it! Really? Not cheap, poor service and only adequate food - very disappointed. Would not go again and do not recommend it.More

Booked on the day we were eating and the restaurant were incredibly accommodating for us! We got to the restaurant and had a choice of tables (a first for months) and were served by the wonderful Jessie who not only attended to our needs but...also gave us lots of tips for the local area! The black and blue tuna to start was incredible! A must for anyone! We then shared the seafood pasta and the prawn plate and both were delicious! A must for anyone visiting TofinoMore

I knew Schooners was expensive but for the price I figured we wouldn’t be disappointed. I don’t expect to sway anyone from visiting this restaurant, just be advised not to expect too much. My meal was removed from the bill but that did not make...up for the fact that we did not get to enjoy hot meals together. My husband let his get cold while we waited for my meal so we could eat together. In the end the food was good, not great. There isn’t much ambiance, the fireplace looks nice, the tables are plain wood, should have tablecloths for the price. Everything is basically plain jane.More

Wonderful seafood in a really nice setting. The service and food are exceptional in this restaurant, with their signature “Admirals Plate” which is a sharing plate for two comprising of salmon, mussels, clams, prawns, blackened cod, halibut, scallops and oysters. If you like seafood and...want to try a really good restaurant, this is definitely the place to go, be aware the prices are not cheap here. Would highly recommend.More
