Driving up to Wickaninnish Inn, there was a checkpoint where a staff was checking our ID to ensure we are from Canada before letting us in - appreciate that they are doing their part to keep Canada safe. We had couple drinks at the bar (Which were ok) and took in the view. We tried calling for 3 days to make a reservation at the restaurant, but it seems like they only take walk-in requests, saving spots for guests who are staying at the hotel.

Dear ANGIEtheITCHYFEET, Thank you for posting a Review of your recent experience at our On the Rocks Bar on Trip Advisor and sharing your experience with our online community. We are delighted you enjoyed your drinks and even more so the view of the Pacific Ocean with surrounding Islands and Chesterman Beach. Thank you for advising you appreciated our Welcome Ambassador located at the entrance to our property at Osprey Lane. For the safety of both our guests and our staff, guests of the Wickaninnish Inn, The Pointe Restaurant, On the Rocks Bar, Driftwood Café and Ancient Cedars Spa, are greeted by our Welcome Ambassador who checks government issued identification to confirm the primary residency of our guests to ensure they are residents of Canada in accordance with BC Government travel advisories. They also ask a series of COVID-19 screening questions to confirm they are not at risk for having COVID-19. Please accept our most sincere apology for difficulty you encountered in attempting to make a reservation at The Pointe Restaurant. As we are in our peak summer period, we are receiving a very high call volume and with the new COVID-19 protocols and guidelines of the BC Government and WorkSafeBC in place, we have had to significantly reduce the number of tables available at both The Pointe Restaurant and On the Rocks Bar. As we are in our peak summer period, we do hold reservations at The Pointe Restaurant for our in-house guests only during the most popular time periods. Having said that, guests not staying with us are welcome to make reservations from 5:00 to 5:30pm and after 8:30pm based on availability. In addition, we are happy to take reservations within 5 days of the requested reservation date, again based on availability of course. We also do advise guests who call to make a reservation at The Pointe Restaurant for either the same day or the next and we are fully committed, that our On The Rocks Bar is available on a walk-in basis. Availability for On the Rocks Bar will be checked by our Welcome Ambassador situated at the property entrance as noted above upon arrival. On behalf of Charles McDiarmid and our entire team we thank you for your Review and look forward to welcoming you back to the Wickaninnish Inn and The Pointe Restaurant again. WE couldn't get there for dinner I left a message with the front desk gal and she told me they would call me back. The only disappointment was they never called me back but we made it for Brunch no reservation. WE had a salmon rostil and a cassoulet both were amazing the view would have been nicer if there wasn't fog but I got the just of it. A bit pricey but worth the experience. Holly our server made it more special as she was very knowledgeable the Hostess/Manager in the front of the restaurant was amazing and very helpful as we saw her the day before at the entrance of the location and she let us know about the all day menu during the day. Great service by both ladies. If we go again we would definately try to make it for dinner and have some seafood. I hope they call back customers as this was the only disappointment for us. Thank you Chef as well as the food is spectacular.

We stayed at The Wickaninnish Inn for the second time, and it was every bit as good, if not better, than our first visit. On this our second visit we stayed longer and had more of a chance to eat at The Pointe Restaurant. We had breakfast and dinner at The Pointe Restaurant, and drinks and a dinner in The Rocks Bar (the upper level of The Pointe Restaurant). The dinner at The Pointe offers a la carte or a tasting menu. We dined a la carte and thought it was impressive cooking, with top level quality and attention to detail. Local and broader Canadian produce was showcased. There is an extensive wine list, with plenty of price point options. The dinner at The Rocks Bar offers less complex dishes than The Pointe but certainly no lesser quality. The house chardonnay which we had with our delicious BC oysters was excellent. As an example of the attention to detail this restaurant offers, a choice of malt or white vinegar (as well as a housemade tartare sauce) was served with the fish and chips. True fish and chips aficionados (like me) greatly appreciate having malt vinegar with their chips! The breakfast/brunch at The Pointe is incredible. A very wide range of dishes (including a separate vegetarian breakfast menu), ranging from a bowl of oatmeal to a breakfast tasting menu! The a la carte cooked breakfast dishes are beautifully prepared and completely delicious. I also thought the breakfast prices were very fair for the quality of the offerings. For example, "The Pointe Breakfast" (two eggs, prepared as you wish), bacon or spruce sausage (the spruce sausage is scrumptious), potato rosti with tomato jam, a mouthful of salad and choice of toast with preserves) is $19, which for the quality of the offering and ambience of the surroundings is, I think, excellent value. The staff in The Rocks Bar and The Pointe Restaurant are totally professional, skilled at what they do and friendly and engaging. We felt very well looked after at breakfast, drinks and dinner.

Visited as a family. Menu was very winter inspired with odd food pairings. Lackluster food ie overcooked unrendered duck, dry chicken, dry cold fish. Ordered cocktails which were overpriced and lacked flavour. The most upsetting part of our $450 meal was the fact that the servers were very close to the tables and guests with no masks or face shields, and guests filled the entire restaurant with no social distancing whatsoever. We felt uncomfortable for not only ourselves, but the staff. Please remedy this, it reflects very poorly on your business.

Dear GraceTravel28, Many thanks for posting a Review of you and your family’s recent dining experience on Trip Advisor. We are truly disappointed to read that you did not enjoy the duck, chicken and fish selections. Please accept our most sincere apology and thank you for bringing this to our attention. As it is our standard to replace any dish not to our guest’s satisfaction if brought to our attention, we certainly wish we could have had the opportunity to address your concerns personally with you at the time. We would also like to offer our apology if you felt uncomfortable dining in The Pointe Restaurant as you did not feel we were adhering to proper physical distancing measures and due to other guests and our servers not wearing masks. We can assure you that we are meticulously following the physical distancing guidelines of the BC Government and WorkSafeBC by significantly reducing tables and capacity at The Pointe Restaurant to ensure all tables are 2 metres apart as proscribed. Having said that, we are most disappointed to read that some servers were not allowing the proper distance from the tables and we will definitely be following up with the Manager of The Pointe Restaurant in this regard. In relation to masks, this is a decision we have made that is aligned with WorkSafeBC guidelines based on our level of sanitation, physical distancing between guests and servers and our table spacing. Our servers are more than happy to wear masks upon request by our guests and who are also welcome to wear masks themselves should they prefer. We can also assure you that we are continually reviewing our protocols and any guideline updates by WorkSafeBC to ensure we are providing as a safe dining experience for both our guests and team members. Unfortunately, without further details of your dining experience, we are unable to comment further and we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you personally. Accordingly, should you have additional information you care to share with us and would like to speak with a member of our Senior Management Team, please provide us with your name, contact information and the date and time of your dining experience to us at sandy@wickinn.com in order for us to ascertain the specific details and to arrange for a member of our Senior Management to be in contact with you. On behalf of Charles McDiarmid and The Pointe Restaurant team, we once again apologize that your dining experience was not as you were expecting and we hope you will allow us the opportunity to fully understand your experience. We had a lovely dinner at The Pointe, and were prepared to love every minute after an afternoon at the spa. The staff were wonderful, and the views stunning. We were unfortunately disappointed by the food. Oysters and champagne to start were excellently paired, but an amuse bouche of beets and mayo on a rice puff was tasteless. My companion and I had the same appetizer of seared tuna and while mine was dairy free, both were bland with an unwelcome sharpness from pickled turnips. I ordered the trout main dairy free and wish the chef had more thoughtfully responded to the allergy: the adjustment was to simply remove anything with dairy from the dish, like the ravioli, leaving three pieces of trout and some celery. It was difficult to swallow plain. I asked for something to accompany the dish and potatoes arrived undercooked. My companion’s pork belly was delicious; the remainder of the dish underwhelming. The desserts were unimpressive; the vegan panna cotta tasted like tablespoons of jam. All in all we were happy to be there, but wished the dishes were better conceived.

Yes the total bill is quite high but it is fully justified by the highly creative meals, a professional service and the freshness of fish, seafood and vegetables. The oysters as an appetizer were unique and very délicious. The choice of wine( by the glass, half liter or half and full bottle) is very very diversified.

Covid makes life particularly difficult for dining out. We arrived a little early 15 mins, and hoped to have a cocktail before dinner.there were two other parties waiting for seats in the bar ahead of us sitting in the entrance area. We decided to go sit on the n=beach for a while rather than wait in line inside. Politely 5 mins late we were taken straight away to our table. The dining room is spectacular. It is like a wooden wigwam. The huge beams are carved to give texture and interest. The windows give a panoramic outlook over the rocks and out to the ocean. It was dark so we did not see out. Lunch is when you can appreciate that. We dined here twice and our first table was set for just us two and faced outwards so we faced away from the large room. It was also facing the vents at the widow edge. The air conditioning was on full blast and I froze. I put my thick outdoor wooly back on and We turned to sit with out backs to the vents and faced inwards. It was a much warmer way to go and an interesting view of the restaurant interior and decor. Very attractive decor and lighting. The meal service was slow but that’s ok. We did need to ask from cutlery and napkins, and the basket of bread and water. After all that the wait for the meal was worth it. I had the mushroom risotto, and baked parsnips. A vegan delight and paired with a local Ortega grape wine from Blue Grouse winery. Really well plated and quite delicious.

My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful evening here tonight. The food, service and atmosphere were perfect! Back in March, I made a reservation here but had to cancel our trip to the island because of COVID. Now that we were finally able to make it, staff had remembered that my partner is vegan. They made sure she picked a meal from their vegan menu and even removed the goat cheese from our mixed greens salad appetizer. A small touch but a very thoughtful one! The pork and prawn meal I had was out of this world, as was the gin Caesar and the roasted parsnip. Can’t recommend this place enough for a relaxing, romantic meal by the ocean.

What more could they do. The hostess that seated us was. extremely pleasant and efficient. She recognized us and led us to our table. The wine steward was very knowledgeable and informed. Our server answered all our questions very efficiently and his service was excellent. The food was delicious Although it is very expensive it was worth it for a special occasion. We all had appetizers, mains and desserts and all agreed they were excellent. We all agreed excellent food and excellent service. They had excellent gluten free protocols which were appreciated by the celiac in our group.

I like fine dining and I don't mind spending money on good food, but I was really disappointed by the food here. The service staff is amazing and the atmosphere is fabulous, so it was disappointing to not enjoy the meal, especially since the main courses are upwards of $50/plate (and quite small portions). We were with another couple for a celebration and all felt pretty underwhelmed.

From the friendly charm and professionalism of host Crystal to the impressive expertise of Maude behind the bar in recommending spirits and the friendly yet knowledgeable and helpful Erin our server (who took the trouble to address us by our names) this was a fantastic meal from beginning to end. I had oysters and tenderloin followed by a beautiful raspberry based dessert. My wife had a prawn starter and sablefish all prepared to perfection. Dietary requirements (lactose intolerance) prenotified were noted and had been taken into account with courses adapted without fuss. The panoramic view is spectacular and doubtless attracts many but the food itself was of a very high quality, portion sizes perfectly adequate and a good selection of wines including by the glass. All delivered in an unpretentious way. A definite recommend and we would have been very sorry to miss it. We weren't staying in the hotel and couldn't intially make a reservation because do priority to hotel guests which I understand. However hosts were always perfectly pleasant and suggested we keep trying. In the end we got our table by calling at 10am on the day we wanted to go. So keep trying. It's worth it. Pricing was perfectly in accordance with the quality of the food and service provided. Around 255CAD ex service including cocktails, glass of wine and meal.

Set in a gated community, this restaurant has a great view of the ocean. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, has experienced and attentantive staff, right upon entrance. Food was very good, I went high end and did the Chef Selections. There were some very creative creations, stuff you won't see anywhere else. But be prepared, it is is expensive, even for Tofino standards

Visited for our Anniversary dinner. Service was fantastic, views are amazing. The food is presented very nicely, but found it to be a bit bland and overpriced for that reason. Better restaurants in town for half the price.. but you can’t beat the view!

Dear Tricia M, Many thanks for posting a review of your recent dining experience at The Pointe Restaurant. We are delighted you enjoyed your Anniversary dinner at The Pointe Restaurant and particularly appreciated the service and the view. Someone in Tofino suggested we head to The Pointe at the Wikaninnish Inn to have a drink and watch the surf. Since we were in town for the “weather bomb” in late October 2021 we thought it would be a great way to storm watch and stay dry. We weren’t disappointed. The view was amazing! The swell was 25+ feet! The staff were all very nice and engaging. The Inn was beautiful. We had the burger with Cesar salad and the West Coast Clam Chowder. The burger was a good size and tasty. The chowder was very tasty and a good size as well. The bread bowl that they brought us included yummy gluten free cornbread, which I usually don’t get served. A nice treat. If you aren’t able to stay at the Inn and get a dinner reservation then head over for lunch and you won’t be disappointed.

Chose The Pointe restaurant primarily based on the location of the Wickaninnish Inn and its reputation. Its situation over on of the Tofino beaches is one of a kind as is the Inn itself. Just visiting the place is an experience but you need a reason to be there (controlled entry) so lunch is the best option. The restaurant is a fabulous, multisided, wooden structure with full length windows providing 270 degree view of the beach. Given the impressiveness of the building and view, the lunch was secondary. However, we enjoyed a burger meal with impeccable service at a price not much more than a local restaurant. The accompanying fries were said to be house cut but didn't seem so and the burger meat seemed of lesser quality (bits of gristle). As a restaurant guest, we could wander the site and beach. I would recommend going here for sure, not just for the lunch.
