If there is perhaps one of the 12 months in the calendar year where chocolate reigns supreme, it is February, the month of love & romance.
Yes the festive year- end & Halloween are firm contenders but February tops both October & December, as the time chocolate gifts are actively sought out.
Chocolate Tofino — which ethically sources its ingredients, hand crafts its chocolates & ships them world -wide — is at the ready for this chocolate-driven time of love, which is soon upon us, with three new products.
It has a red gift box filled with a variety of interesting chocolates for 48.95$; & a chocolate-made sort of holding box filled with chocolates @ 44.95$.
Its third Valentine offering is its hollow bear filled with smaller chocolates — which is a favorite produced year round, since its bear creation in 2003 — with some pink accents.
It is priced @ 19.95$.
I went with it as my gift of choice, as it is great for children & adults alike.
All of these Valentine’s Day products will be fully on stream for sale for the build up to Valentine’s Day on February 14th.
Chocolate Tofino’s staff have been —in my experience shopping for some years @ its charming store on the close outskirts of the ocean village of Tofino (since I arrived in the west coast region where rain forest meets the rugged Pacific Ocean) — attentive & helpful.
This time it was staffer, Meghan, who helped me work through my Valentine Day gift options.
Chocolate Tofino also crafts delicious gelato, sorbet & ice-cream, especially lickable come the warmer summer months.
One of the sayings expressed on its on-line site is the idea things are best @ the beach.
Chocolate Tofino’s chocolates & ice treats are delicious anywhere.
I highly recommend its chocolates & its inventively created gelato, sorbet & ice-cream

Come Christmas & Hanukkah — both of which fall on December 25 this year — one thinks of chocolate, & when I think of fine & delicious chocolate, I think of Chocolate Tofino.
I am seeking out OMG gifts for the festive season for my two grandchildren, & often when I do this, I turn to Chocolate Tofino (CT) in Tofino, the other ocean village on Canada’s Wild West coast, 26 miles north of Ucluelet where I live.
It was again a good place to turn, as it is creating big Santas, circa three feet tall & made from 2 kg of chocolate!
Now that is OMG for children.
Indeed, it will turn many a head of adults too.
The big Santa is wrapped in cellophane.
It costs 225.95$, comes in milk chocolate but can be ordered in advance in dark, as well.
One person I heard of bought one & took a hammer to it to share with many friends. A couple I heard bought one & took their time working through it, enjoying chocolate over some time.
I was sold on the idea of getting one for my grandchildren to be able to hammer it into pieces with invited friends gathered around at their home to share in the chocolate bounty.
CT has a range of sizes of Santas, with the smallest a trio pack @ 5.45$.
CT offers a wide variety of shaped bars & chocolates in milk, dark & white chocolate, as well as delicous gelato.
All chocolate creations made at CT are handcrafted, & ingredients are ethically sourced.
It also ships its product.
Service is always great. This time I was served by Logan & Nicole, who were both terrific.
Indeed I received OMG service.

The ice cream was delicious, but also not outstandingly good. The waffle with chocolate is highly recommended. A scoop costs about $7, which I think is too much for a scoop of ice cream. However, the balls are relatively large

The early days of summer always get me thinking of gelato, especially for my two grandchildren.
I am especially keen to find some OMG flavor around the summer solstice for them.
The wonderful Chocolate Tofino, (CT) of course, immediately comes to mind when one is thinking gelato. CT is creative in developing new & interesting flavours, its staff is amazing — very helpful & knowledgeable - its quality of ingredients very high & its care of product & customer alike is exemplary.
Calling in to find out about new flavours, I was absolutely delighted to hear a new flavor had just been launched, which sounded heavenly
& is called Solstice Chocolate!
I had to catch my breath & with my imagination racing & mouth watering, I listened to staffer, Ella, describe it.
She was great in the detail she gave & helped me imagine what was in store for my grandchildren’s with this heavenly new gelato creation.
It is a combination of three chocolates — one dark & two milk chocolates & is a marbled taste & look extravaganza.
I was in immediately.
It is offered in cones as well as in its Picnic Pint, which comes in a stainless steel flask to keep it cold if required for travel etc. Another great idea from CT.

We were with friends wanting to stop for a drink at the coffee shop which was in front of the Chocolate shop. But the coffee shop closed at 2 p.m. and we noticed signs for the Chocolate shop. So we decided to investigate and we were glad we did.
We asked if they did hot chocolate and what a treat! They make up three different sizes of hot chocolate using hot milk and elizir orbs of chocolate. So yummy!
They have quite an array of chocolate items including loose chocolates and boxes of chocolates. Along with several flavors of ice cream. Because we came on Valentine's Day, they had several chocolate heart containers of small chocolates. We also tried three of their loose chocolates: Masala Chia, Blackberry Cream and Passion Fruit Cream. Excellent chocolates.
We would love to stop here again.

Thank you so much for stopping by, Julie! We appreciate your kind words and are so pleased that you enjoyed our Hot Chocolate Elixir! The Elixir was born out of rainy west coast winters and has a special place in our hearts! Valentine’s Day is a magical time to stop by Chocolate Tofino! See you again as your travels bring you our direction!

We had gelato here . The place is very busy and there is a decent choice. We simply weren’t that impressed with the gelato. The Californian pistachio really lacked taste. Cost for 2 scoops $8. And for staff to ask for a tip when you pay by credit card is a joke . Would not bother recommending

Thank you, Maureen!
It has come to our attention that their was a weighing error that happened during production and the Pistachio that you had received had very little Pistachio in it. It was a kitchen error that was under investigation and resulted in 4 bins of unflavoured Gelato, one of which was served temporarily but didn't taste like much of anything other than sweetened dairy. This explains why the California Pistachio that you were served was lacking taste. The bins were pulled shortly after this error was discovered.
Since we reinvented our Pistachio a few years back and committed to 100% Pure Pistachio with no other nuts proteins or flavourings, missing the only meaningful ingredient would certainly be a lack luster experience. We sincerely apologize that this error was not caught sooner.
We hope that you enjoyed your vacation to Tofino. We can't imagine being anywhere else!
Thanks!

The salted caramel sundae was beautiful and enjoyed tremendously by my husband and daughter. I love the touch with the chocolate surfboard. I modified mine and had it with strawberry ice cream and no caramel. They poured chocolate on the bottom of the waffle bowl which was delicious to eat. In our family, we enjoyed the mango gelato that tasted like pure mangoes. Yum!

Engage your senses. Creativity from a stunning chocolatier that creates their own proprietary/ secret gelato flavour is simply a delight. It's called 'Hammerhead", and it has a lovely texture and a hint of anise seed / fennel in there somewhere. The vegan coconut and oat milk hot chocolate is fantastic on a cold sunny day. This place is a 10/10 must stop when hitting the beaches in Tofino. Your life is shorter than you think. Go here.

We went after dinner and it was packed! We waited probably close to half hour to get into the store to order our dessert,
I had white cocolate raspberry, my daughter had strawberry, they were both delicious, like up there in best gelato I've had. My husband had maple pecan and it tasted like vanilla. Both him and I both had a taste and it didn't take anything like maple, it literally just taste like vanilla, so i'm not sure if he was given the wrong flavour by mistake.. it was too busy to go back in and ask for a replacement

What an amazing gem that is a must visit in Tofino! The chocolates and house made gelato were both excellent and reasonably priced. What really stood out was the service; my daughter has a nut allergy and generally cannot have ice cream or gelato. We asked and although they cannot guarantee cross contamination, the person gave us such detailed information regarding what would be safe based on the type, when it gets processed, and what is in it, that my normally very cautious daughter decided to try the Stracciatella which she said was excellent. Thank you for taking the time to go over the details; we really appreciate it and will definitely be coming back this week!

The ice cream was absolutely to die for and I 100% recommend going to visit this adorable little chocolate shop if you’re in Tofino, but unfortunately the staff were not great to deal with. I was served by 2 young girls who just chatted with each other about not very appropriate work topics (boys etc) and hardly acknowledged me or tried to engage with me. I felt ignored and uncomfortable while waiting for my ice cream and did not appreciate the lack of effort on their part to interact with the customers beyond a bare minimum or the conversation topics they were discussing. I would have preferred to encounter more mature and professional staff considering how popular the business is for tourists. When I spoke later on with my associates they said they were served by an older girl (we quickly determined it was a different staff member than one of the two I dealt with) who was apparently very lovely and friendly and in their opinion a perfect customer service rep. So obviously it can be a hit or a miss when it comes to the service at chocolate tofino. Hopefully the staff improves over the summer as to not take away from the amazing food and chocolate the shop makes!

Thank you so much for your kind words about our homemade gelato! It is absolutely our goal to make the best chocolate and ice cream you've ever had! We put so much love and time into our products, and we are so happy you loved it.
However, we are sorry you had a less-than-stellar experience with our staff and thank you for your feedback. You are probably aware that Tofino has been officially welcoming guests again for less than 3 weeks, and in the midst of the unbelievable increase in visitation, we are working crazy hours to hire and train enough new team members to meet the demand. Your feedback on this will be addressed right away.
In response to your lack of engagement, this is all new as well. In a normal scenario, our staff are trained to converse and visit with guests and make them feel at home. In the current situation, the huge walls of plexiglass - while in place for all of our safety - make conversing difficult at the best of times, and downright frustrating sometimes. We do train our staff to give proper care to each guest, and we are sorry you clearly didn't receive that effort.
You may also know about the housing crisis in Tofino. We have some amazing, mature, professional team members who are literally sleeping in tents all summer because there are no places for rent. On the other hand, we have hired some of the younger, local girls who have homes in town, and because of their age, sometimes we are their first real job, and a lot of training and shaping needs to happen for them to reach the level of service that we require. I personally do most of the training, and I have spent 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for the last 2 weeks, training and supervising, while also trying to make the delicious chocolates (that we are so thankful you enjoy and come back for!).
All this said, we are doing our best to make the best of a difficult situation, and we are grateful for your feedback. Please don't hesitate to reach out via e-mail at info@chocolatetofino.com with any other details about your visit. We would be happy to be given the chance to make this right. Stay safe, and have a wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Kim & Cam Shaw

The only thing I would say is that if you go here too often during your stay, your waistline will suffer. But then again hiking or surfing are a good way around that. Otherwise there is the most incredible hand made chocolate. My favorites are the salted caramel and wonderful ice cream in the same flavor. The dark chocolates we prefer are abundant in many shapes. Too bad one vacation isn’t enough to try them all. A must, if you go anywhere near Tofino!

How do you review a chocolate outlet. It's a little out of town but lots of parking and just off the main road. Massive selection of goodies. There will be something that appeals to everyone. Taste is so powerful that you only need a little nibble to satiate your need, but then it's hard to stop going back for more. Ask someone to hide it from you so you don't make yourself sick !

Staff are friendly, it’s also very COVID friendly and only lets one person in at a time. The chocolates are totally worth the price and we also had their gelato which was awesome. We would look for starfish on the beach and then finish our day with the chocolate strawberry chocolates at this place.
