This is a pub on a dock, as its name says, serving typical pub food like fish and chips and burgers It's fun to take the ferry from Nanaimo Harbour (which leaves and returns every half hour throughout the day), take a walk around Protection Island, then call in at the pub for lunch or just a drink. Nice patio... More

We had our family from the prairies visiting so we took the little ferry to the Dingy Dock, a short scenic sail. We ate inside the pub but the windows were open & we all enjoyed the fish & chip special. A nice adult place to go for a relaxing meal. Our family wants to return to the Dingy Dock... More

This restaurant is definitely one of a kind. It is one of the very few floating pubs in North America. The food is excellent, you can sit at a table right on the water, and the evening view of the lights on the water and of Nanaimo right across the water are superb. Dduring the day you can often see... More

You take a little ferry ($9 return) to this pub on Protection Island (closed Mon Tues Wed in Winter) and enjoy a craft beer and great food, right on the water.

They serve your typical pub fare but what our guests always enjoy is the ferry ride over and back; as well as sitting on the water enjoying the scenery, yachts, sailboats and kayaks go by as we eat. It's a different experience for the landlocked who visit.

Have been to this place for many many years and although it has changed hands, it is still an awesome place to go. This pub sits right on the water on the edge of Protection Island. It is a short small ferry trip over to this little island which in itself is fun and inexpensive. (Pay only one way). The... More

You get to the floating-barge restaurant via a water taxi - it's a fun ride to a fascinating and charming restaurant. The food is satisfactory (not nearly as memorable as the location), and you meal might be interrupted by the regular games being played (e.g., "Guess the Tune").

The trip is worth the price and the time. This place is a floating pub with dock space for you and lots of others. Or you can take the little putt putt ferry across the bay with float planes landing over beside behind or in front of you. Decks outside have a great view of the city and the harbour.... More
