The traditional Japanese food is very fresh, tasty and well presented. They make an especially excellent miso soup. The restaurant is popular but in the busy, lively area of Strathcona it is nice to find a quiet restaurant.

Nothing that blew me away but decent sushi. The spider roll was not quite what I was used to, a different breading was used and it was grainier but it was still tasty. I am still looking for somewhere that offers fresh sea urchin. One of these days. Service got the job done for our group of 8. We ended... More

Seems expensive but you are receiving good value in quality of food and service. Nice clean restaurant. Clean bathrooms. Four stars instead of five because I despise mandatory percentage based gratuity. 15% in this case.

The worst sushi I have ever had. The construction is absolutely terrible, the rice falls apart from the everything. Portions are small. NEVER AGAIN.

Had been here with a large group some years back and had had good service, so decided to venture back . Kyoto is close to the University, so a good choice for lunch. Has an extensive menu of sushi and samishi, but had a $12.00 bento box from their lunch menu. Waitress happily substituted bean sprouts for rice. Beef was... More

Been go to Kyoto for years, but hadn't been fir some time. I ordered chirashi (sashimi fish on a bed of rice). By a huge margin the worst chirashi I have ever had. Usually flying fush roe us spread over the rice, but this was a scoop. Fish was cut in overly large, random shapes by someone who clearly did... More

Make sure you arrive early - and make a reservation. This place has been very busy for YEARS - generally myself and 2 other co-workers try to go here every 6 months. Parking can be a problem - even though it is a decent size parking lot - it is shared with a lot of other places. Service is generally... More

Staying on campus for the week, I wanted some good sushi and sashimi for dinner. I was not disappointed by this restaurant. I had for the first time a dish I had never seen on the menu before: Isobe (photo). It was very delicious. I highly recommend this place.

I go there by myself every time I'm craving sushi. The food is fresh. The waitresses used to be rude, but now they hired new ones and they are really nice and professional. Try their oysters.
