We had dinner at Deer Lodge in Lake Louise while on Christmas holiday. We smartly made a reservation (definitely recommend), and we were seated immediately. Had the charcuterie plate to share, and it was delicious! Highly recommend it; various selections of their own cured wild game. Both main courses; smoked duck & caribou were excellent ! The service was prompt... More

We split a Caesar salad (substantial) and ordered the Elk Sirloin and Caribou Medallions. The meal was fine; however, of all the game food we tried at various restaurants we concluded that Bison was the most consistently tender, juicy and the most flavorful. Reservations are recommended.

Had not been here before, so after driving back from the Icefield, we decided to stop here for lunch. We ordered Fish & Chips and Cobb Salads. I had a very good Bloody Caesar, as well. The food was good - service was good...especially considering there was only one guy for the almost full dining room. I am in awe... More

We stayed two nights here and had dinner both nights, once in the lounge and once in the dining room. Both were very good quality and the service was good, our waitress was polite and knowledgable. I would recommend dinner here. Breakfast, however, was a very different experience, our waitress was a young Australian girl who needed some training in... More

I live within an hour of Lake Louise and have often visited the area but this was the first time visiting the Deer Lodge. I travelled with my husband and my in-laws in their eighties. I thought the ambience of the lounge was nice in the old log building, we passed a room with a log fire going which looked... More

Was unsure about booking after reading the reviews but glad we did though it does have some drawbacks. It's an old fashioned lodge, characterful and quirky. It is very close to Lake Louise (just behind the Chateau) which is really convenient and our Heritage Room was very nice. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent. But breakfast was another story -... We dined here for two dinners we tried the bison burger, caribou medallion, fish and chips, and flank steak. The best was the first 2 listed. There is patio dining but it was quite chilly when we were there. Price is as expected service was good.

Dined here whilst staying at deer lodge. We ate in the caribou lounge as preferred the menu. My husband had the bison burger and I had the gnocchi and bite were well presented and tasted fab. Ice cream made it for us -doughnut ice cream and fresh peppermint were lovely.

The restaurant excels in wild game and Canadian Rockies cuisine...lovely game meats as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. The setting is historic...a place where the mountain guides used to congregate prior to leading hikers up the challenging trails around Lake Louise. Very nice ambiance.
