Very pleasant experience. Great, accommodating staff, lovely location. I should imagine it is manic in season but on this occasion really enjoyable.

We have been coming here for several years now, although we are not local so probably only 2-3 times a year for lunch. As dogs are allowed inside and ideally outside, it works for us as we always have our dog with us. It is...More

I went to the Hive with my husband for lunch. Although in a great position, this cafe has no atmosphere whatsoever. I had the tomato soup which was adequate but too sweet, the parmesan biscuit that came with it was great. I then had the...More

We were visiting the area and the Hive Beach Cafe had been recommended to us as somewhere we could get a fantastic seafood meal. Upon our arrival at 3p.m., we waited at the desk and eventually the supervisor, who seemed to look on us as...More

Not cheap but great seafood lunch with a good view of the waves crashing on the beach. Staff were great and food very good. For a drizzly Monday lunchtime in November the place was surprisingly busy.

Wanted to come here for so long and glad we did. Food choice was lovely and you could see the chefs busy at work! Lobster and prawns were delicious, only wish I was given a bowl for the prawn heads and shells rather than it...More

I am of an age when I remember tea being served in a china teapot with matching cup and saucer, milk jug, hot water pot, tea strainer holder and sugar bowl. How things have changed! At the Hive its a teabag thrown into a stainless...More

I've been coming to the Hive Beach Cafe since I was tiny with my Granny, and I felt compelled to write another review (I've previously left a glowing on TripAdvisor) following our last visit. It's such a lovely place BUT I think they're getting ahead...More

They don't accept bookings but they should be quieter this time of year. Don't let that put you off though, it's brilliant.

We’re committed to using fresh, locally sourced seafood - when available we serve fish straight from the very shoreline you’ll be eating on. We offer a wide selection of cakes, biscuits and take away treats. All homemade by Melanie and her team at the Hive Beach Micro Bakery based in Burton Bradstock. We’re happy to accommodate large parties of diners and we’re dog friendly but we don’t take reservations so it’s advisable to arrive a little early for lunch as we do get busy! Please check our website for up to date opening hours because we do open for dinner during the spring and summer season. Whilst we do our best to reduce the risk of cross-contamination in our restaurants, we cannot guarantee that any of our dishes are free from allergens and therefore cannot accept any liability in this respect. We urge customers with any form of allergies to assess their own level of risk and consume dishes at their own risk. Please ask to speak to the chef on duty if you are in need of any assistance in this regard
