We had the most amazing meal at the Unicorn. My husband chose to have one of the specials - fresh fish of the day - hake with sauté potatoes and fennel. I fancied a spicy dish to my own liking. The staff insisted the chef...More

Great little boozer set back from the beach. Lots of seats inside and out. We had some nachos with our drinks - which were fantastic! Sadly didn't get back to try anything else on the menu. Reasonably priced. And we liked the look of the...More

4 adults and 5 children for early evening meal. Great place right on the beach, pay parking which is refunded. We forgot!! Reasonable menu with specials on a separate sheet. The kids all had the usual fish fingers, chicken pieces and pizza. We had the...More

Often visit, as the food/atmosphere since the new management took over is great! Usually have the 'Dirty Chicken' which is delicious! Sunday roasts are great too. Really friendly staff, very welcoming to our young children too. A friendly, laid back venue. Had my boy's 5th...More

A popular place, so worth booking to ensure you get a table. Excellent, friendly staff who went out of the way to help. Basket meals were quiet small in comparison to the main meals for only a few pounds more, although while we were waiting...More

This is a super pub, love the retro furnishings. Beer always good and food good too. My girls love the pool table and dart board- feel sorry for anyone else who wants a go! Good for families, never overcrowded.

Great relaxed service and couldn't be more accommodating. Felt like home for the couple of nights we stayed and even had a small private cinema so our young children could watch a DVD whilst we relaxed in the bar/lounge area. Rooms are very clean, fresh...More

I agree with previous reviewers that this place is overpriced and food is poor quality, very poor value. For "vegetarian tapas" you basically get cheese, toast and a few olives. The dough on a pizza was rolled to within a millimetre of its life (...More

Sorry about this experience. We had a bit of chef drama which ended up without one so a friend helping us doing Tapas to be able do a food offering at all sorry it didn't tick your boxes on this occassion.

Dropped into Porthtowan in need of food after visiting a number of scenic beaches. The outside of the pub isn't as picturesque as other pubs but you don't see that when your inside. Nice internal decor, it suits its location. The bar staff were excellent...More

I've been to porthtowan for quite a few years and as far as I know it's always been the unicorn. It's not quite as neat to the beach as the blue bar. It's lovely though! !!
