Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really good. This is a vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurant. We told our server we were vegans and got the best vegan food in Puebla. The menu was quite extensive, based on Mexican classics like enchiladas and flautas. They also have vegan burgers and other more international...fare if you fancy it. We had the enchiladas verdes and the tofu flautas, very nicely done. No complaints at all. This is not a fancy restaurant, this is where local vegans/vegetarians eat, so you are getting the real deal.More

The menu is not the best. I would say it's terrible, they don't respect the vengan food and the food is mediocre but the atmosphere is good, calm where you can be calm and the service was average. I think the best thing there is...the buffet because you choose what you want in the portions you want with a bit overpticed cost but it is better than the menu for the different occasions that I have gone, where the first times it was better, I am talking about years ago, but the last times a few months ago the quality has gone down like its service, so the most recommendable is the buffet and the atmosphere on days that are not so crowded, in summary it is not the best but it is recommended.More

Great restaurant for vegetarians. A lot of classic mexican dishes but without meat. Meals are quite big, and inexpensive. Definitely worth it, not only for vegetarians!

I think this may be the only vegetarian restaurant in the historical part of Puebla. The portions and quality were excellent! I had a tofu soup with rice, corn, zucchini, and other vegetables. My main entrée was an avocado topped with a variety of chopped...up vegetables, rice, and mushrooms. The restaurant is situated in the courtyard of a beautiful building.More

We found this restaurant through reviews and decided to give it a go as there are not many other vegetarian restaurants in pueblo. We were really surprised at their buffet and a la carte menu. They have a lot of options. Many vegan dishes too....Enjoyed the afternoon getting stuffed!!More

If you’re looking for a vegetarian alternative to the wonderful, but meaty Mexican food that Puebla has to offer, this charming restaurant offers both a menu and the buffet that are both very good eats and deals. I’m not sure what exactly I was eating...at the buffet trays, but it was tasty and healthy. I was especially happy to find lots of fresh fruit. This seems like a great place for families with kids because the little ones can eat to their hearts content and the parents can know that the food is healthy.More

I came here on a bank holiday where they had a full buffet menu with a large selection of food, so I thought I’d give it a go as it was such a good price and I’d at least get to try lots of different...things. The various cold salad dishes were actually pretty tasty and I filled up on them quite nicely. This was probably a good idea because the hot dishes weren’t anything to write home about. They were all just rather bland and dull and some I actually struggled to eat. However, considering the selection and the price (€140) it was good value for money even if you just fill up on the salads and fruit. If you’re hungry then it’s a good choice, but it might be better to go with a la carte if you’re just in the mood for some vegetarian food instead of just meat pretty much everywhere else in Puebla.More

We were staying nearby and ate here daily. The breakfast buffet (served Friday, Saturday & Sunday only) is the best, nice selection. The lunch/dinner buffet is okay. In Puebla they like their meat and dairy, it's in everything everywhere. This isn't a vegan friendly city....They're very traditional, not progressive. Had no problem finding vegan or vegetarian food in Mexico City last year, it's very different in Puebla. In this restaurant on the menu, they will label what is vegan, there aren't that many options, most of the menu is vegetarian. At the buffet, they don't label what is vegan, so you have to guess or find someone who knows. Not a big deal for me, but my sister is lactose intolerant when she guessed wrong she got sick. I found the staff friendly.More

I was expecting Puebla to have great vegetarian places. But I was so wrong! La Zanahoria is in the Zocalo of Puebla, the centric area. The building is an old house, pretty nice. However, food is pretty bad. It was hard to believe that a...restaurant in Mexico, country known for its nice spices, would offer such a tasteless, bland food. The presentation was also bad. Lack of colors, lack of flavors, lack of everything. It was like "hospital food". The cookies are pretty bad too. Totally tasteless. The juices are good though. The service was not friendly but OK.More

We went to La Zanahoria since we have a guest whom is vegan, so we found this place in the downtown of Puebla. The place is a modest restaurant, not fancy or elegant, but the place is located at a very good spot in a...beautiful old house. The food is really great, they have a menu so you can choose among a dozen different dishes, and also has a store with vegan and organic products. They don't take credit cards only cash and pesos, so be prepared.More

We stumbled across this restaurant on a long weekend visit to Puebla. We are vegetarians and often find it difficult to find suitable food in Mexico, because even apparently vegetarian dishes have e.g. chicken stock in the Salsas. I thoroughly approve of this restaurant. The...interior is pleasant although in need of TLC, but the service is quick and friendly, and the food is delicious and great value. The menu has vegetarian versions of traditional Mexican dishes as well as things like burgers, hot dogs and (very nice!) chips (french fries).More

I tried La Zanahoria (The Carrot) after reading mixed reviews online because there are no other vegetarian restaurants in central Puebla. The lunch buffet is only $120 and offers a selection of Mexican & European dishes (changes daily), a good salad bar, desserts and agua...del dia. Fresh bread is also included and brought to your table. Nothing on the buffet was amazing, but it was fresh, tasty and excellent value for money considering how cheap it is. It was also nice to try some vegetarian versions of classic Mexican dishes that I usually can't eat, such as enchiladas with mole poblano. I returned a day later to try the cafe at the front of the restaurant which offers a range of sandwiches, veggie burgers and fresh juices. This was even better value - two tasty burgers with salad, fries, and a large juice for $140. I would recommend this part more than the buffet!More

After having amazing vegetarian and vegan food in Mexico City, I was reallyyyyyy disappointed. The buffet was lukewarm and the food was mushy and tasteless. We didn't even finish our plates, just paid and left. Honestly, with food like this I can understand why people...think eating vegetarian is hard, it was gross.More

This place is a welcome relief from the majority of places in Mexico which are very meat-heavy. Youll find better Mexican food (chiles rellenos, gorditas etc) elsewhere, but there was a good cauliflower and potato curry, a salad bar and fruit, yoghurt (albeit sweetened) and...granola in the dessert bar.More
