Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The worse place to eat! Waited for 50 minutes for our order! Very disorganised. The drinks were good though.

It was our third time this week and we tried the wood fired pizzas - just as great as the delicious, fresh Mexican food. Cannot recommend this place highly enough for the exceptional food, service and ambiance 😁

We rang up around midday to book a table for dinner for that night. We left a message on their answering machine with our phone number etc. I had looked up their website and it said they were open that night. The flashing sign on...the street was advertising they were open. We didn't hear back from them, so I rang again later that afternoon and got the same message as before. We walked up to Oasis on Straddie that evening and went to their front door. There was a small sign saying to check their website and that they were closed. Meanwhile the sign on the street was still flashing that they were open. We then had to walk back to our accommodation and luckily were able to get dinner elsewhere. If we had received a phone call the next day apologising about their disorganisation etc. we would have appreciated it, but we received no communication at all. While we were there reading the sign on the front door, two other groups walked away disappointed as well.More

Had booked a table for 4 pax, but unfortunately didn’t realise it was an outside table. When it started to rain any thought of outside service ceased. Because staff were too busy trying to keep children out of tree outside we didn’t get a chance...to even place an order before the rain. We decided that we’d order anyway & take our food back to our hotel only to be told that not only was there no outside service there would also be no takeaway for the rest of the night! For the amount they charge for food & drinks one would expect better facilities & organisation. Tip: go to the pub or the bowls club.More

Stradbroke has few places that offer anything other than chips, pizza, steak and fried stuff. The oasis offers a fantastic alternative. Tasty ceviche, great burritos and tacos, decent churros for dessert. It's a really nice indoor and outdoor space. Very family friendly. Nice staff. Its...about $25 per plate. Hope it stays open. Straddie needs places like this.More

A warm welcome is always a good place to start. This place did not disappoint. Beautifully Boho in the ambience. The staff are attentive but not in your face. It's only a small menu but caters for all. The food was delivered quickly and the...Sangria was very good. Would be a great venue if you had a large group.More

I don’t know who George D is ( review before mine ) but my experience ( went twice in a week in May 2023) was diametrically apposed !! Calm the vegetable farm George D!! Your hemp Knickers were definitely in a bunch honey! Small businesses...live or die by reviews and you are clearly on some frigging vegetation’s holy crusade! My daughter is a vegetarian so i understand the frustration of finding a good vegetarian meal - but they do offer them- sorry yours didn’t work out the way you hoped . But surely you got the meal sorted and ate the meal you asked for. So why throw it in the face ? If they sorted it- they sorted it. I don’t often do reviews but to counter George D and assist this little business - I will review . We found the restaurant to have attentive staff, fabulous margaritas ( believe me I know margaritas!!) and delicious food. OK not 5 star /Michelin restaurant 5 star- but it is honest food that was a welcome change while staying in North Straddiez. As a couple we walked away with a meal and 2 drinks for under $100- at home at our local pub we rarely get away without a $200 meal so I think well priced . We shared an entree and a main each time cause the servings are quite good. Please note We asked for hot sauce cause Mexican restaurants generally have to dial spice down for the guests so if you want hotter than mild - ASK for it. They have a ghost pepper sauce that is not gonna make you cry but it sure is a nose runner. Well Done Mexican Cantina- you guys serve up at a reasonable price for fresh and tasty dishes. Chilli margaritas were yumbo! Maybe we can squeeze one more meal in before we leave this little touch of paradise called Noth Straddie? 😊More

Worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Terrible service, disgusting food, awful drinks. The staff were rude and obnoxious, served pork to vegetarians, didn’t know how to make margaritas. It’s obvious that the food wasn’t fresh and ironically no fish on the menu despite being situated...on an island. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!More

A friend and I decided to go for Oasis On Straddie Cantina Mexicano for dinner. We both ordered Burritos with Beef and my friend ordered a lemon lime bitters. We were both highly disappointed with the quality of the food considering the price. The rice...was cold and hard almost as if it wasn’t cooked and they gave us pulled pork instead of beef. My friend described her drink as watered down and flavourless. We left our plate almost as how they were served. Identifying staff was difficult leaving us to leave the restaurant disappointed and without being satisfied.More

Went there with my husband and a friend for lunch. The restaurant was beautiful. But the food was pretty lackluster. We got a Mexican bowl one in pork and one in beef and they we both not great kinda tasteless. We also orders a nachos...that the beef wasn’t very tasty and also the spiced chicken wings which it tasted like the spice was just chicken salt. The wait times were perfect though and the man who brought us out the food was so lovely.More

Dropped in on a Monday night to check out the Mexican restaurant at Oasis - limited selection of pork or chicken dishes but surprisingly the only beef option was Nacho's. So opted for two beef nacho takeaways at $18 each, waited over 30 mins, all...a bit disorganized but polite. Got back to our accommodation and we were both, separately, disappointed in the outcome. Definitely not worth what we were charged. I actually thought an $18 nacho would be a pretty big plate. It wasn't. It was entre size. So buyer beware - not the real deal. Other dishes might be different but steer clear of the Nacho's.More

Absolutely DELICIOUS and healthy(!) food in a most friendly (including child-friendly) garden setting with helpful, attentive staff. The varied, yummy food is all freshly made on the premises and mostly caters for vegan and GF dietary needs - though the rest of us wouldn’t know....The chef is so creative and makes everything from breakfast burritos to spanakopita and veg. fritters to heavenly carrot cake (best ever!), brownies and banana bread. Superb coffee too. Open for breakfast and lunch. The place is a blessing to residents and visitors alike.More
