We enjoyed sitting at a table overlooking the Zócalo, taking in all of the sights & sounds of Oaxaca below. The ladies who served us were very friendly. The food was a disappointment. The Caesar salad was overdressed and soggy. The onion soup was too salty. The lamb chops were cooked too rare. The snook (fish) with green sauce was... More

Food is VERY well prepared, wide menu, well seasoned and good plating. Service is acceptable, but could be better. Excellent location with a nice view of the park.

Frankly why bother eating anywere else in Oaxaca [ except for the first class "Catedral" ] The Asador has a fabulous view of the Zocalo and its sight and sounds (mariachi music, marimba players ,etc). The food and service are very good and reasonably priced for such a super location.

We went to the place seeing it was not to busy and several tables were open by the balcony. When we got to the top most of them has signs saying reserved and others were taken by patrons. After two hours of sitting there not a single person came and occupied the seats by the balcony that said reserved. While... More

El Asador Vasco is a wonderful place for good food with a view of the hustle and bustle of the zocalo. plenty of menu selections, including several Oaxacan dishes.

We were a group of seven, ranging from 11 to 92 years old. I had the monchego cheese as an appetizer, which was made up of thinly shaved cheese "teepees" and quite tasty. My main course was carne asada, which was flavorful with sides of beans and a small brick of hot farmer's cheese. The service was very effective for... More

Excellent restaurant with nice atmosphere overlooking the Zocalo. Nothing to criticize and a good choice to absorb the atmosphere of evening Oaxaca and the accompanying live music playing down below.

We ate here twice - first and last nights. My friend knew of it from a previous visit when a Oaxacan family introduced her to it. The pechuga de pollo mole negro was life changingly delicious! Great ambiance above the zocalo, also.

It is relatively easy to find the ground level entrance to this restaurant side of the Zocalo. We had delicious fresh tuna and Galician octopus and the bill was about 750 peso (USD 37) only for the two of us including wine and dessert. Great value and nice service. Our bill included "propina" tip.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel manager, and it did not disappoint. The Spanish white by-the-glass was excellent, and a good value. Dishes were traditional and mainly Oaxacan and everything we had was very good. Our server, an elderly Mexican woman, was gracious and kind. We had a lovely table overlooking the Zocalo.
