One of the places that we keep visiting because it has dishes that we love, such as rib eye, ravioli or risotto, not to mention the desserts that we loved. The drinks don't miss a glass of wine or dark beer. I think it is a restaurant that could be among the top in Mazatlán if it weren't for the fact that they need to improve the service, and since most of the waiters have been working there for a long time, I feel like they have lost a little of their service attitude.

I went not by choice, but because my family wanted to go. Contrary to my past experience, this time the menu was wider and we all liked what we ordered (pasta dishes, salad and meat, wine and craft beers). The service was friendly and effective. It touched us at a comfortable table, in a more enclosed space next to the bathrooms, so we had more privacy to talk between uncles and cousins. The wider space was full of Americans. I like the interior style of the place, art nouveau type. It is a good choice for dining in the historic center.

Hector’s Bistro is consistently a wonderful dining experience; our mid-February visit was no exception. Hector himself is always there which may be why his bistro is a well oiled (olive) machine. Delicious food, El Centro Mazatlan ambiance and highly attentive service is the dining trifecta.

The food was fantastic, the service however needs improvement. From the time we arrived (5 of us) until dinner finally was served, it was just short of 2 hours. The restaurant was busy when we first arrived but then cleared quickly. The table beside us ( 4 people) arrived 1 hour after our table and they had their dinner before ours was served. We appreciate good food takes time to be prepared so we were patient , but considering the simplicity of our pasta(spaghetti)meals the time it took seems excessive. The deserts were 5/5.

Octopus carpaccio was really unique and tasty. My wife’s steak was cook perfectly and very tender. The pasta entrees were boring and somewhat tasteless. The main reason I gave it a three was that the service was slow and inattentive. For this reason, I will probably try other restaurants before I go there again

Visited Hector’s Bistro for the 1st time this evening based on reviews & the fact they could accommodate celiac. Lovely restaurant. There were 4 of us. All of the meals were absolutely amazing. Wasn’t anything left on a plate. Hector came around to all the tables to greet everyone. Very nice man. We had 2 issues. The first being after we ordered our first drink the waiter never came back to offer a refill, water or anything. Secondly being celiac, when asked about dessert, the young waiter said he had to check. When he finally returned he said there was nothing so I asked another waiter when he approached the table. His response to the question was yes. We paid our bill & left. I don’t know if the young fellow was new or what, but that was disappointing. If I’m at a restaurant of this calibre I absolutely would have had dessert. I would 100% recommend Hector’s!

10/10 experience. We were visiting as a group of 4 (2 couples). We were seated in a corner “booth” style table. We had spectacular service and everyone at the table enjoyed their food. We started with a bottle of cab, and ordered mussels and tomato soup for the table. We were going to order 2 soups to share among the table, and were informed by our waiter that 1 would be enough for 4 people, and he would split into 4 bowls - he was RIGHT! The soup was huge and we had more than enough for 4 people. The mussels were very good and flavorful. For entres, we orders the shrimp risotto, tomato/provolone and basil ravioli, pan roasted pork chop and Argentinian vacío steak. Everything was excellent! We will be back!!

It's high season but afternoon lunches are iffy. The salad that I ordered was dressed hours before making the lettuce whimpy and slimy. The whole thing presented as if nothing was wrong even though I ordered dressing on the side. The wait staff tried to tell me that the sun-dried tomatoes were the dressing but the lettuce was dripping in old olive oil. Meanwhile, my pasta was served on a cold plate alone with the sauce cooling down to blah! I know Hector would not stand for this if he was present.

Very fatty steak. Not talking marbled but rather just over fat riddled about 40%. Waiter did not comment when we complained altho later even though I said it was for my husband's birthday waiter said try the Argentine steak next time. Very disappointed..

dined twice at hector's during our one week stay. Tried the sea bass (melt in your mouth), ribeye, pork chop, filet, italian antipasto plate, grilled octopus, French pate. Everything was cooked to perfection and the sommelier was extremely helpful in recommending wines. The restaurant was lively and teh wait staff friendly and interactive. Can't say enough good things. Also sampled the sticky toffee pudding - yummy!!

I heard through the grapevine that Rack of Lamb was an offering here, so I decided to take the chance. Thrilled that I did. Sat outside at the Pizza side and ordered from the Hector's menu. Server accommodating, recommended a glass of red that was great and delivered my hot, perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth BAA AAH in a timely fashion. If lamb is on your list, then this is the place.

What a gem! Quaint atmosphere with great architecture; a variety of art for sale adorned the walls. The wait staff was unassuming, yet very attentive at the same time. The food was amazing!! We had sea bass and lamb chops…both were so mouthwateringly tasty! We will definitely be back on our next visit to Mazatlan!

We had a fantastic dinner last Friday (and are going again today, 5 days later). The Sommelier spent an ample amount of time with us, allowing us to test a number wines, before choosing our bottle. We ordered the rack of lamb and the ribeye, which were both cooked to perfection. Consistently fantastic food.

Hector’s is a large, welcoming, nicely furnished restaurant that serves expertly cooked, delicious food that is beautifully presented. I had saffron risotto with mushrooms that was excellent. The service was attentive and the wine quite good.

We have regularly visited Hector’s when we’re in Mazatlan. On this occasion we started with the Italian Platter antipasto and the tomato cream soup (which our server knew to serve in separate bowls without even being asked 😎). Both were excellent starters. For our mains we ordered Hector’s home made pasta- the provolone ravioli and the pappardelle with shredded lamb shank. The ravioli was fresh and rich the cream based tomato sauce was not overwhelming. The pappardelle with lamb was, without a doubt, the most luxurious pasta dish I have ever eaten !!! For desert we finished with the creme brûlée and the apple tart both finely presented and not too heavy. The staff at Hector’s is as impressive as the menu. Confident and charming with out being intrusive. I should mention here that at Hector’s you come to dine, not just have dinner, so enjoy the relaxed pacing. Having enjoyed all of the top tier restaurants in town I really believe that Hector’s stands alone as the best.
