We are from California, and can get excellent Mexican food in our home town. We've been to Mexico a couple of times before. We stumbled on El Charro in Ensenada. They serve the best Mexican food we have ever had. Their specialty is rotisserie chicken, and it is phenomenal. We also had chicken tostadas, and some delicious handmade chips with... More

We always have at least one meal here when we are in Ensenada. The chicken is superb and the staff is very friendly. My personal favorite is the chicken soup...total perfection. The fresh homemade tortillas are the best.

Our family of 4 ate here yesterday. We were drawn in by huge rotisserie of charcoal chickens & the old style of the restaurant. Our waitress gave us a brief smile to begin with & barely again. The beef tacos came with only beef & re fried beans, no salad ingredients or guacamole or chilli sauces. The 1/2 chicken was... More

our favorite taqueria was closed on the day we visited so we stopped in to El Charro for lunch, the place is clean, has corn tortillas being freshly rolled and cooked on a giant cómal over an open flame. Rows and rows of whole chickens being cooked on the rotisserie along with chunks of carne asada . Beautifully cooked. I... More

Came here after a long weekend of horseback riding and wine tasting for a lunch before we headed home. Our guide from Rancho La Bellota brought us here for lunch. We ordered the rotisserie chicken. It was very tasty. I would like the skin to be crispier but it was tender and he a great flavor. We ordered the Sangria... More

My friend and I went for dinner with an appetite and still left hungry. Don't think that if you order a chicken it's coming directly off the pretty spit at the front of the restaurant. Both of us had chicken with sauces on them and the chicken was COLD! When I told the waiter both dishes were cold, he simply... More

This is definetely the place to go when you're in a cruice or visiting Ensenada. It has the best roasted chicken in Baja and the service is super friendly. It is also the best looking place in the area, a huge 4 story building with a unique classic mexican style. The chicken roasting in the front window is a delightful... More

El Charro has been a favorite of ours for quite awhile. It's decor is pretty nice, classic Mexican; tiled floors, rustic wooden chairs and tables. The service was attentive, good beer selection, fresh chips and hot tortillas. We've tried several of the menu selections, all good but the chicken mole is our favorite. This place is a quiet oasis among... More

THE place in Ensenada for chicken. all the food is good but you have to try the pollo y papas that is the half chicken cooked on the rotisserie and french fries. The home made chips and salsa are the best and with hand made tortillas can't be beat
