We went in as a group from work. The surroundings are great, it is an old pub which has been extended to provide more space for eating out. The food was good, though the service was really slow. Worth a visit.

Good beer and well trained staff should help to give this nice country pub and restaurant the 4-5 stars it deserves, but...let down by the food. The Lemon sole was dry and over cooked..shame as it looked nice in its butter and caper sauce. Just...More

Very good food and surroundings. I used to visit when Squire Tickell owned it when there were neckerchiefs, a sign at the door saying ‘SEX. Now we have your attention: NO JEANS’, candelabras, and a bell in the bar linked to hinged a Greek Gods...More

Met here for a client meeting at 12 noon. Walked in to an empty pub so we settled down by one of the two log fires. Ordered from the set menu (2 courses for £16) and had a couple of pints of local real ale....More

As a family, we visited the Tickell Arms for Saturday lunch. I had not been to the premises since the seventies when it could only be described as an interesting but quirky pub. The current owners have in my view refurbished the premises tastefully whilst...More

This is what a pub should be like. Properly friendly staff, even finding the makings for my wife’s Pimms drink in a chilly February. Great local beers. Nice menu, a slightly posh version of traditional pub grub. Food was good, nicely presented, tasty and good...More

Another fantastic Sunday lunch at the Tickell Arms, top notch food as ever. You’ll not find a better Sunday lunch for miles around. We’ve been many times now, mid-week and Saturdays too: the a la cart menu is also great and the specials often even...More

A fantastic Grade 2 listed building with a new conservatory overlooking its iconic pond. The food is Modern British/European with an emphasis on locally sourced, fresh, seasonal ingredients. The menu changes every 2 months with a specific cut of meat, fish, fowl or game being the focus of each menu. The Tickell is also a traditional country pub with wood burning stoves, great real ales and a very well considered wine list. The Tickell Arms is a former coaching inn which was transformed into a country pub/restaurant in the 1960's by the flamboyant Kim Tickell. With its striking blue exterior, eclectic decor and service it gained a level of notoriety. Kim Tickell passed away in 1991 and afterwards the building lost a lot of its lustre & appeal. It had been closed 2 years before we undertook a major refurbishment to restore it to something approaching its former glory.
