My husband I had a meal here last night to celebrate his birthday. The atmosphere is really nice, civilised but relaxed. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and kind. The food is simple and made with high quality ingredients, delicious! We had a great time and would highly recommend.

Very good local Gastro pub ,friendly welcome staff very obliging. Service very good but you would expect it on a very quiet Monday lunchtime. Quite expensive but for a treat well worth it. Lunchtime menu not extensive but sufficient. Oysters were wonderful from Devon.

This rural inn is in the middle of nowhere, which gives it a special charm. The easy parking and generous space in the restaurant was appreciated.

Very enjoyable pigeon starter but the T bone steak was rather average and at £29, I'd expect a bit more than that, it came with some tomatoes on the vine and chips. No fillet steak at all on the menu which at that level, I would expect. There are some new owners and based on that I would give them... More

Delicious lunch in a relaxed setting.. perfect for a family lunch.. quite pricey but worth it. Separate children's menu. Tasty food and excellent service. I recommend the cheese cake for dessert! It was busy so you need to book.

Excellent! We visited the Crab & Boar for a family Birthday meal recently, but having been previously we were nervous as we had a poor experience. However since changing hands the Crab & Boar has improved significantly. Everyone in our party of 6 thoroughly enjoyed their meals, the service was attentive and friendly. We would recommend highly.

What's gone wrong with this place? WAS classy with great food and service...NOW haphazard and random .We were left in the bar beyond our booking time and had to seek out our table ourselves to find our reservation had been wrongly ticked and staff thought we were already checked in......Also other diners receiving our orders, no one returning to take... I booked a celebration lunch for 13 people and we received an amazing welcome, fabulous food and hospitality and desserts to die for. All topped of with beautiful sunshine and the afternoon spent on the terrace. Thank you so much to Roger and his team for the making the day special. The lunch and afternoon were truly faultless.

A little out of town but Very surprised and Pleased as on our approach was clearly 'way more' than an ordinary public house. The outside area, furniture was classy, fountain, nice seating areas - would love to go back when warmer weather. On entrance seemed a warm welcoming oldey worldey pub, but clean and airy, with plenty of space. Service... More

This was third on a list of places we wanted to eat Saturday lunch. The first was full and the second closed. Thank goodness as it meant we ended up here instead and had a wonderful meal. The food was of a very high standard with their signature starter of crab and boar fresh and tasty. The portions of stone... More

Description
We're a country pub and all of our menus showcase the best of Britain with plenty of fresh, local produce and dishes that tip their hats to the seasons. Whether you want to indulge in rich local game, fresh-off-the-boat crab or just kick off your wellies and relax with a pint and a scotch egg, here you'll get a true taste of the great British countryside. It's not just our food that we're proud of here, we've also spent time picking the best local ales and award-winning British spirits and wines for behind our bar, alongside some old favourites. From Sipsmith artisan gin to Nyetimber bubbles, make sure to take some time to sample our drinks menu too. We even stock Snuffle dog beer for any canine companions. We are proud to have received 2 Rosettes and 4 Stars for our accommodation by the AA. We are also part of 'Pub group of the year 2016' by the Good Pub Guide.
