A special day out with family, together with an interstate visitor who hadn’t been to the Sunshine Coast for decades. Really looked forward to taking them to Maleny and chose this iconic venue in the ‘Clouds’. However, our excitement waned as we waited and waited...and waited for well over an hour for our meals. It was apparent that they were understaffed, the wait staff having no clear direction on the delivery of orders. We watched excitedly as meals were brought out, looking like our orders, only to watch them being brought from table to table, the wait staff looking so lost and overwhelmed. Our meals finally arrived, and disappointingly, the burgers were only partly cooked, sides of chips were cold, even a few still frozen, thawed out only from the sun! Bread buns were not toasted and fell apart. It was so disappointing, in fact, atrocious! Won’t be coming back for a good while, if ever! Shame, it could’ve been so good, the venue was wonderful, but that was it! Suggestion: organisation in food preparation and cooking needs to be stepped up and waitstaff given clear directions.More

THE SURROUNDS, DECOR AND AMBIENCE WERE EXCELLENT BUT THE SERVICE AND FOOD WERE ABYSMAL. OUR BOOKED TABLE WAS GIVEN TO A PARTY OFF THE STREET, WE WAITED OVER AN HOUR FOR OUR FOOD (BURGERS AND PASTA), THE ORDER WHEN IT ARRIVED WAS SHORT OF ONE...MEAL, THE CHIPS WERE STONE COLD AND THE MEAT PATTIE OF ONE BURGER WAS COLD. THEY SEEMED VERY UNDERSTAFFED IN THE KITCHEN. ALL THIS DISTRACTED FROM AN OTHERWISE INVITING VENUE.More

Had my 50th here in October 2022 and it was exceptional- yet fast forward to Mothers Day 2023 and our return was nothing but disappointing. Food delayed 1+ hours No communication New chef - clearly not prepared for the event Apologies yes but just not...good enough for returning customers looking for a a seamless experience. $65 per person menu and nothing to apologise with. Wow. The wines were okay but missing many wines advertised on the mnu and no pinot gris or grigio. Then there was the long queue to order meals then the five pieces of calamari that turned up as a $29meal so over salted I gagged...and had to go to the toilets. Astonishingly, this place is popular. Worst experience ever My daughter made a booking for 4 adults for Easter Sunday. On arrival we were informed that they had run out of gas, so had a limited menu. The menu Mountain grazing platter Cheese platter Balmoral Buger Cheese burger Vegan burger Don’t...waste your time and Money.. I asked if the grazing platter included pate…and was informed that it was included. So we ordered the double Mountain Grazing Platter This was for four adults, I noticed that it did not include the pate, and queried this, I was told that they were all out of pate. They replaced the pate with a quince paste. We also ordered 4 balmoral burgers, which came with chips, and some tomato relish and Alioli on the side, I asked for gravy, but they couldn’t provide, so I settled for bbq sauce. Overall the whole meal was a disappointment, the platter wasn’t worth the $45 charge The burgers were dry and rather tasteless. What annoyed me was if they knew they had run out of gas, they should have phoned the people who had made reservations, not tell them at the door. Yes it was our choice to eat there, we didn’t have any other choice but to proceed with the booking, as I had to start work in 2 hours and we wouldn’t have time to go to another venue. The food is mediocre and over priced, Nearly all the wait staff and servers were underage, possibly to reduce adult penalty rates. I would never recommend this venue to others.More

Called to make a booking for 30 minutes time - 2pm, after the lunch rush. Was told that we didn’t need a booking and could walk-in. Drove there but turned away. Told that no walk-ins were being taken, despite multiple clean empty tables without reserved...signs. They were “too backed up” to offer wine tastings (paid) or cheese platters. Nothing iconic about the building.More

This is the second time we’ve visited here. The food was disappointing the last time 18 months ago but was worse today. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes and wasn’t hot enough so the cheese burger and fish and chips we ordered clearly...weren’t cooked fresh. The fish was really dry and stodgy and not particularly hot so I assume it was fried earlier and heated up in the microwave. The burger was of low standard too and tasted like cheap sausage meat. The chips were quite nice but again not hot. Each of the adult meals was $25 which was a complete rip off for the quality of what we were served. Somewhere like Grill’d has much better quality food. I get that it’s hard to get staff at the moment but if that’s the reason you can’t cook the food fresh then charge what it’s worth - maybe $12 per adult meal. It is a pity because it’s a lovely place to sit, great selection of drinks and fun for kids. Definitely won’t be returning again.More

After reading other reviews, I was reluctant to have lunch here, but I’m really glad we did. We were warmly greeted at the door, and then shown to our table while also being offered an alternate table if we wished (inside vs outside). Water and...glasses were immediately brought to the table after we were seated. We were a little early for lunch, so ordered some wine and a cheese platter - both were amazing! We then ordered lunch, which was amazing. Really fresh and tasty! I would definitely recommend you to drop in and try the restaurant. The staff were warm and friendly, and the food was fantastic.More

Food quality and service was poor. Fish and chips were clearly overcooked, and very dry. Cost was partially refunded. Service person didn’t know much about the menu.

The location and ambience is faultless. We visited on a Monday, it was very quiet. The hamburgers and chips were cold, the relish was dried out and no water was offered at the table. Very poor and disappointed considering the lunch cost $72.00.

So we stoped here on a whim, saw it and it looked cool, should have had Awesome views too. Well fist you sit where there are no views at all. The views are in the car park. We stood for 5 mins waiting, as the...sign asked us to, to be seated, Until we gave up and asked if we can sit anywhere. That seamed to confuse the waitress who started to rush around looking for somewhere for us. It was half empty with a lot of free tables. No one severed us so had to got to the bar to order 2 coffees. When they eventually came they were ok. But at no point were we offered water (32 degree day) or offered a menu to look through. It was lunchtime. Horrendous service, a waisted beautiful site and a place I will never go again. Whist sitting and watching as you do, the lady behind was brought her lunch twice and the bar told people they were to busy to do flights as they ran out of glasses, let me remind you, not even half full.More
