The restaurant we had booked for my birthday (Fostons Ash) completely let us down so we called the Butchers Arms to see if they could fit us in at the last minute as it was just around the corner. I am so glad they did...and only wish that we had booked here in the first place. The service and food was outstanding, so much so that we booked Sunday lunch whilst we were there. Beautiful place, gorgeous surroundings, fantastic service and amazing food. If I could give 10 stars I could.More

Short notice booking with a very helpful lady, explained we had 2 large dogs, she said they’d give a suitable table. Narrow country roads to get there but well worth the drive. Very friendly staff, good choice of real food, both our meals were on...the large side and were very nice, home cooking, just sorry we were both to full to have a desert, which looked very nice. Very reasonably priced too. We would certainly use the pub again if we were staying in the area longer. Will.More

Our second visit to this lovely country pub, unfortunately my wife tripped over walking outside the entrance. The staff were absolutely fantastic attending to my wife’s grazed blooded knees, a bruised and embarrassed wife we then sat outside in the lovely sunshine and had the...most wonderful meal. Thanks again to the lovely and very helpful staff….More

We discovered this place on our first night whilst staying at Cherry Tree Glamping, a 5 minute drive away. So glad we did, as we didn’t go anywhere else thereafter for dinner! Superb quality, friendly staff and a good price too. Definitely a rare gem...among increasingly (but understandably due to hospitality impact of the pandemic) poorer restaurants. Will definitely be the place to go we we next visit!More

We hadn't booked, not expecting it to be too busy on a Tuesday lunchtime, my birthday. Mark, the owner got us a table outside, and took our drinks order. Then one of the table staff brought the drinks and we gave our food order. We...had our eight and six year old grandchildren with us, and as all the food is freshly cooked, they can get a little fractious waiting. But there was plenty going on to watch, and lovely other diners and staff to talk to. The food was perfect. Great portions and extremely tasty. Our dog was catered for with a bowl of water, too. The bill came and I was pleasantly surprised, in fact I though they had forgotten the drinks, but no, it was all there. Wonderful 'olde worlde' pub, but with a modern twist with the food selection and guest beers. Another birthday coming up in September! I would suggest booking first, you really don't want to be disappointed!More

Stopped off here with family en route to Painswick. Great choice of food on menu and everything was delicious. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Tucked away in the middle of the countryside approached by scenic country roads. Lovely place to have a meal on a...day out.More

This is such a gorgeous pub inside and out. Photos don’t do it justice! For this alone it’s well worth the visit. The servers were friendly and dogs are allowed in too. We think we visited on an off night though as the pub was...so quiet and there were just two other customers where we were seated. We were shocked it wasn’t packed! And the food was nice but nothing special (we had the Camembert starter, pie & mash and panko chicken & salad). Again, we think it was just an off night, so given all the amazing reviews we’d definitely come back when we’re next in the area.More

Everything you want in a country pub! Food was excellent, big portions and great cooking. Nothing fancy but there were a few little touches that elevated it above your usual. Service was lovely, they were working really hard but never put a foot wrong. Great...beer and cider and lovely hunting memorabilia on the walls. So nice we came back the next evening!More

Yes, they are allowed in a certain area. It is probably worth booking to make sure your table is in the dog friendly area!
