It was a recommendation from one of my wife's colleagues. Place itself is in a lovely setting and looks very inviting from the outside, a theme which continues on the inside with its slab floors and log fire giving it a very homely feel. Staff were very welcoming and kindly. Usually, places like this are a little dark inside but... More

We had Sunday lunch in the lovely dining room looking out over the gardens and fields. The menu is more interesting than many at Sunday lunch. The food was excellent as was the service and atmosphere. We had a Saturday lunch here in the summer when you are able to sit outside. On that occasion we had some very fresh... More

Hi all... after coming back from an arduous trek on the SO called 'Sugar Loaf' in the Brecon beeeakens in wales we thought hey what better than a juicy beverage at a fancy pub which is also a hotel which makes it an inn! There were 5 of us... 2 50 something males, 1 beautiful girl and 1 nice girl... More

Had lunch here on a Friday for a special occasion. Drove for 2 hours from West Wales with high expectations. Starter - a wonderful blue cheese brûlée - innovative and interesting - but no pears as per menu, replaced with apple so not quite right. Main course- excellent well cooked hake... But copious capers slung over, not even chopped, loads... More

Dear Julie, I am surprised by your review even though you do credit us with serving you "a wonderful blue cheese brulee" and "excellent well cooked hake". However your comments saying the place "could do with a good clean and some fresh decorating" does make me wonder if you were casting a myopic eye seeking fault. I say this because... More

We visited three times while staying at a nearby caravan site. Very welcoming and dog friendly in the bar. Good menu with different choices for example marinated crab tian and blue cheese brûlée were delicious. The fish mains were lovely and well cooked.

Popped into the Dog and Boot bar for a quick lunch. Ended up mixing and matching the nibbles as we weren't very hungry. Very generous portion of whitebait which was well cooked with lovely dips. The scotch egg was homemade and delicious.

My wife, parents and I booked 2 nights at The Bell for a weekend to meet up. It is in a lovely valley in a quiet village about 10 miles from Ross on Wye. We stayed in the Barrets Bane attic suite which is lovely and spacious, just watch your head! The hotel has a gorgeous garden which is a... More

We have eaten here twice in the last month, once for an evening meal and once for Sunday lunch. Both meals were excellent. Fresh, local ingredients used and the food is served nice and hot. Comfortable restaurant inside and the service was good, however, Sunday lunch service seemed more attentive (hot bread served and drinks filled up more quickly.) Only... More

Many thanks for your kind comments. The vegetarian option does change regularly so you were slightly unlucky to have it twice running. Sunday lunch is getting very popular with thanks to our excellent local suppliers and the efforts our friendly staff. Hope to see you again soon. More

Apologies as I reviewed this under the hotel's review, not as a restaurant. Anyway, this was a lovely looking spot when we first passed it, and was well worth the effort to stop at on the way home. We only had the scotch egg with sweetcorn relish and a bowl of chips, served after the 2:30 midweek lunchtime had ended,... More

Called in for a drink not having booked for lunch. The staff were more than accommodating and managed to find s table for lunch in the lovely garden. Food was excellent will definitely return.
