We had a great time at the Shell Museum. The food was true island cooking. We started with Papaya Daiquiri - yum - you added your own rum from the bottle on the table. Then we had some wonderful coconut bread followed by fried breadfruit and then we ate the spicy fish which was very fresh and juicy along with... More

I had the most brilliant evening at the North Shore Shell Museum last night and my only regret is that it has taken me 6 years to find it...! Egberth is an incredible host, he is your waiter, your chef and your entertainment for the evening. We were a table of around 16, we kick-started our evening with a fantastic... More

We had a fantastic local meal of bbq fish and breadfruit, loved it so much we came back again for the lobster. About as fresh as food gets! Delicious and very kind service from the owner.

Egbert is a fascinating man and cooks well. The shell museum is unusual and the hand lettered signs in local English are the stars of the show. Find out why you should cut a tree to make your boat at full moon. This and much local lore wil pass with the few guys like Egbert who grew up in a... More

We recently visited the North Shore Shell Museum in Tortola, BVI based upon reviews read in Trip Advisor and some word-of-mouth recommendations. It certainly is an interesting experience and one that is not for everyone but if you are adventurous you will not be disappointed. Chef & Proprietor Egberth is a delightful gentleman who has created a homage to collecting... More

I'd heard that recent years had found proprietor Egberth Donovan focusing outward for income to the detriment of the North Shore Shell Museum (& Restaurant). Happily, our recent visit found him wholly rededicated to the NSSM and it looks better than ever. Egberth and cohort Mannington Callwood, entertained before, during and after our breakfast with conversation, tales of yore and... More

I took my husband and 2 friends for breakfast at the North Shore Shell Museum in Carrot Bay and the experience was, as all my visits have been, a delight. Curator, proprietor and chef Eggberth serves up a delicious plate of pancakes and bacon and scrambled eggs (there is no menu) accompanied by juice made from fruit off his property.....mango,...
