I visited this restaurant with a group of 10 friends. Everyone was very pleased with their food. The dining room is decorated with lots of pictures and memorabilia that we really enjoyed looking at. The owner and servers were very nice and attentive. One of the servers did speak English so it made it much easier for us to ask... More

It's true - the paladares in Havana are far, far superior to the government-run establishments. This restaurant is quiet & comfortable. The food was delicious. And the mojitos were terrific (you'd think all mojitos in Havana would be terrific - but that's unfortunately not the case.)

So as not to bury the lead I'll say this up front. We had our best dinners at Gringo Viejo during a week's stay in Havana. In fact, we had several good dinners. Three to be specific. This of course is an unusual circumstance, to return to the same restaurant three evenings out of seven in a new destination. And... More

Cozy spot in Vedado located in the bottom floor of an old house. great A/C for those sweltering Havana nights. Service was excellent, food was simple, classic and tasty. Try the tamale appetizer - it's big and flavorful...enough for 2 to share.

Had a lovely meal here. A very god food and even better service. The decor very alluring and inviting. Smoking area at the premises. I recommend the lamb and the fritters.

I have been coming to this place since 2010. It is THE BEST and one of the oldest paladares in Havana. Just good ,old school Cuban cuisine. THE BEST !!!

We certainly enjoyed our evening here. The place is unique, the most magical place in Havana for a romantic dinner with your love one, particularly due to the singular decor. The service is fantastic, smiles and promptness all over and then,... the cherry on the cake is the food, which is simply WOW, so we highly recommend it!!!!! When you... More

The owner is the kind of person we'd all like to have as a friend. He is a gentleman as well as classic car aficionado. The food and service was no less than a 4 of 5, but if you really have an interest in the old cars of Cuba, this restaurant is definitely the place to go and so... More

From the outside, this restaurant looked tacky and empty, but once you go in past the doorman, down the stairs and through another door, you enter a cosy dining room. The food was very good, no vegetarian options but the sides are very big so it's possible to put together your own vegetarian meal.

Our hotel concierge recommended Gringo Viejo. It was an excellent choice. The garlic octopus was about the best octopus dish I have ever had. Plus, the diced pork was delicious. What I especially like was that the restaurant is quite small, with a couple even smaller areas/rooms available. It really has a very intimate feeling. Our server was beautiful and... More
