This is the second visit in 6 days to The Gate and on each occasion the meals were outstanding. The actual restaurant is tastefully decorated and has that comfy ambiance about it. The service is first class and the meals cooked to perfection

Once again the organisation and food were fabulous. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening with some excellent wines. Three courses and three glasses of wine for £30 I feel is excelent value for money, especially when you consider the high standard and quality of food...More

I would most definitely visit again. I was very happy with what I ordered, the ingredients were obviously fresh, and good quality. Everything was well prepared. Our choice of wine was also very good and the price reasonable. My father was disappointed with his meal...More

We were a group of eight in a justifiably packed house for this event. Like all its predecessors it was a great experience with excellent food and plenty of good quality wine. Service was good too! Bring on the next one!

Visited with local friends that had recommended the Gate Inn. Were not disappointed. An attractive restaurant and well laid out so you are not sitting " on top of" other diners. Nice menu and all prepared perfectly. Excellent friendly service from two young waitresses. Special...More

We visit the Gate on a regular basis as it is dog friendly and we can eat out without leaving the dog at home. The staff are lovely and friendly and the food is amazing. Highly recommend.

Description
There has been an Inn/Pub/Hostelry on this site since the 16th Century. It was closed for two years before the current proprietors took it over and refurbished it ready for opening in mid-October 2012. It is privately owned and operated and is not part of a chain. It has a 150 seat restaurant divided into a number of areas and rooms, from a small cosy private dining room ("The Gate Room") to a room which can comfortably sit a function for 50 diners. The Bar area has ground floor access with no steps and there is a wheel-chair ramp outside for access to the restaurant. There is a disabled toilet in the bar area. There is a car park with up to 48 bays. The restaurant style is 'bright and roomy' and not cluttered. Dogs are welcomed in the BAR area - but not in the restaurant. There is out-door seating for up to 40 people.
