Quite possibly the best bit of a week staying near Monmouth - where we had the misfortune of suffering rain every day - was our visit to Tintern. The abbey is well worth an afternoon of your time, and a hundred yards away, across the car park, is this little gem of a pub. Friendly staff, a good selection of... More

We had a pint of Butty Bach, really nice and enjoyable pint. Food was also excellent. Highly recommend this pub.

We had read reviews before visiting and were expecting great service with great food. When we arrived, we waited at the bar to be seated and 3 clueless girls were seemingly oblivious to us in front of them, as they were too busy chatting aimlessly among themselves. Only served once the supervisor arrived. My partner had called before, asking for... More

I popped in here for a drink after day of walking around Tintern. Okay I am a real ale and cider enthusiast but this pub claims on their website to have choices of real ales and ciders but sadly it's not available when you physically go there Run of the mill drinks priced high for one off tourists. Although I... More

Four of us booked (advisable) for Sunday lunch. Good meat range (pork, beef, leg of lamb) and vegetarian (nut roast). Vegetables outstanding. Also excellent puddings (pancetta, apple cherry crumble/custard, interesting ice creams). Good range cask beers and wines. Service cheerful despite being busy. Good value at around £15 per person for mains and pudding. Dog friendly in bar. Anticipate very... More

Called in on the off chance and had a lovely meal. The staff were very friendly and made sure we had all we required. It's in an amazing setting by the Abbey. The meals are huge and the wait for them wasn't long at all. Just make sure you have £3 on you for the car park which will be... More

We called to make a booking a few days before and they said they would give us a good table and they did, it was great and had a lovely view of the Abbey, which was just been lit up by lights as the sun was going down. The food we had was very good, my husband had the belly... More

This pub has great views of Tintern Abbey and is right by River Wye for walking. It is full of character and cosy even in the winter. We go regularly for an evening meal which is always excellent, plenty of choice on the menu including home made soup and desserts. The service is good and the staff are friendly. Would... More

Highly recommended pub right next to Tintern Abbey with large modern conservatory attached and extensive gardens to sit outside. The food (beer battered haddock and chips) was excellent, cooked to perfection and very quick service, though it is not the main tourist season so the pub was not very busy. Lovely views of Tintern Abbey from the conservatory and the... More
