Great place that accommodates most day time experiences, take a walk to the hidden Japanese garden or a dip in the pool on a summers day whilst on a family picnic or fine dine or have a nice chill out at the pvt lounge over...drinks with friends, I love it hereMore

The setting is stunning with lovely, tranquil gardens. As a KZN boy, living overseas, I always pay a visit when in town, however this will be certainly be my last visit to the restaurant/cafe. I arranged to meet some friends who were over from New...Zealand but the whole experience was extremely disappointing. To start off with, we asked if they had any scones - NO, then any muffins, - NO, finally any cake? Yes - chocolate cake, Bar one cake or Death by chocolate. Not much variety then. Ordered a strawberry smoothie - sorry no strawberries. Honestly, why bother to stay open if you have virtually nothing in stock? Service was also appalling. Asked waiter for milk for the tea - it never came. 45 minutes for a toasted sandwich to arrive and the place wasn’t even busy. Pot of tea arrived, noticed a lot of water on the table, picked tea pot up and there was a huge crack in the tea pot. The whole experience was just comical, even the 2 slices of cake that we ordered were definitely not fresh. Total bill of over R700 with only the milkshakes being of a reasonable standard. This place really needs to get its act together as the setting alone can’t save it.More

clean, some beautiful flowers and plants, paths well marked and can do a bit of exploring if you feel like it.

We reserved a table for 9 people for a family members birthday and arranging to bring in a cake. When we did arrive the table was not set. 3 small tables were put together. 2 on the end. 3 and 4 on the side which...meant a very cramped setting. A long table next to us was set but was reserved for people who did not pitch up. People around us retrieved their drinks and meals promptly whilst we waited. When requiring to put the gas heaters on the staff simply said that there is no gas. I recommend this place for personnel of the same ethnicity of the surrounding area if you don't fit that I don't recommend this place for you. It's a guarantee that you will be disappointed.More

Visited this peaceful and very beautiful garden recently. A lodge is also on the property. There is no entry fee however a fee of R60 is charged as a vehicle fee. A lovely restaurant is found here with a few vegetarian options as well. One...could spend an entire day here. Beautiful sculptures are found throughout the garden. A must visit especially when traveling towards valley of 1000 hills. A must visit. Wheelchair friendly access.More

We have been to Makaranga gardens a couple of times with the kids. It is such a lovely and calming place to go. Nice for a strole through the gardens to relax and let the kids play. Their Pizza's are very good and they accomadated...me and my son quickly on a Sunday lunch without a reservation. In future, make sure you have one as the restuarant is always busy.More

What joy to start your day as you breakfast on the deck at Makaranga Lodge overlooking flowering Magnolias, Camillias, Azaleas and rippling ponds. Nice breakfast selection, good service and beautiful views. Then wonderful walks around the gardens with lots of Zimbabwean stone sculptures. A slice...of unexpected paradise.More
