We called in on Sunday before heading home from the lakes. The pub has undergone extensive renovation work after the foods and is looking amazing. My wife & I enjoyed a few chips with our lunchtime drink but were very impressed with the meals fellow guests where tucking into. We will be returning with the family in the next few... More

This was a lovely experience with really lovely well cooked food. Good big portions which I like. Landlord John was really friendly and encouraged us to chat to other diners which I thought was really unique Will definitely go back next time down in Ullswater.

Just visited for drinks this time, but have eaten there in the past and the food was good. Local beers to choose from.

Last time we visited here we went to the restaurant. this time we used the bar which actually felt more relaxed and roomy. No wait for a table and excellent service. The fish pie which we both had was really tasty.

We chose to take a look at the Lake District on our way to Scotland and Pooley Bridge appeared to be a good place to stay over as it is on the edge of Ullswater. The hotel is extremely busy, people eating throughout the day and this demonstrates the quality. We were not aware that this was the place where... More

We stopped here for dinner with the kids and it was lovely. The slow cooked Chili was beautiful and my daughter enjoyed the fish and chips.

Does what it says on the tin! Good soup, nice sandwiches and a very nice kids meal- oh and the chips were excellent. Plus one of the bars in the pub excludes dogs cos not all of us like wet smelly "but he's ever so friendly" dog hairs in our food.

My father stayed here whilst we were at a campsite close by. My dad loved staying here, lovely single room, amazing breakfast and service. We ate at the pub on several occasions and had lovely food with great service. Highly recommended.

Visited for Sunday Lunch. Very busy. So book if possible. Restaurant area very nice and spacious. Less so in the bar areas but assume food just as good. 3 choices of meats on this occasion. Beef, Lamb and Pork. Beef and Lamb slightly more expensive but all reasonable at £9.50 or less. Plenty meat and good choice of veg although... More

The Inn was converted from a row of cottages in the 1700s by the original proprietor Edward Richardson. Since then the Inn has changed hands several times, and was taken over in May 2010 by John & Jane McGuire.

The Sun is a family run establishment. Sunny by name and by nature, this is one of the most friendly and cheery hostelries in the region. It is a sizeable whitewashed building with grey framed windows, which in summer are draped with vibrantly coloured hanging baskets. Inside, the decor is simple and warm with low beamed ceilings, wooden tables and chairs and wood paneled walls and bar.

It has a spacious beer garden and a grassy area at the rear with a fantastic wooden childrens play fort. It also has its own car park, which is strictly for patrons.

The Sun Inn is renowned for its Real Ales and has been awarded the Cask Marque and features in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. We offer a wide range of local ales and a constantly changing guest ale and for the non ale drinker there are lagers and stouts.
