Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great night on Thursday night at the Cavity. The food was amazing, the wood fired pizza was delicious and the drink ins were pub prices and friendly excellent staff as well. And we also stopped in for a breakfast coffee and milk shakes the next...morning. Family friendly and dog friendly place too.More

The Spanish food was good but due to it's popularity we waited 75 minutes for the food to arrive. It was a public holiday weekend and there isn't much local competition. There was live music and the staff were pleasant.

This is a very good restaurant for service and food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The quality of the food was very good and the quantity was generous. The two of us had one tapas dish (meatballs) and one pizza (seafood) which was...more than enough for lunch for 2 people. The pizza alone would have been sufficient for a light lunch.More

We traveled far to dine at Venus Bay’s finest of establishments. My husband Kevin thought the sage on his pumpkin pizza was a bit overbearing like his mother in law. My beautiful daughter Elsa enjoyed her potato pizza though. My stunning son Jayden thought his...Parma was a bit bland but serving size was acceptable. The chips that came with the Parma were extravagant, but had a strange yellow glow. My second favourite son Stéwitt had to wait 20 mins for his chicken wings to cool down. After that the taste was a tad overwhelming of honey but alas he enjoyed them. Uncle Joe said that the chicken pizza was the highlight of his life, but that just may be dementia. I should mention that we tried to contact this establishment 6 times before they picked up the telephone to book a table. P.S what kind of name is The Cavity, sounds like a dental clinic. We will update you on our further travels. Princess Karen. ✝️✝️💖More

A somewhat disappointing couple of pints were consumed on New Year’s Eve. Big sign outside warning people that they were fully booked for the evening and to wait to be seated. After being ignored by 2 or 3 staff for a couple of minutes we...decided to pop in and ask if it was ok for us to exchange some of our hard earned cash for a pint. It was 3:30 and the place was 90% empty so what could go wrong? We were warned when ordering that we’d need to be gone by 4:00pm as they were fully booked all evening. We were grateful that they were prepared to accept our money so duly gave it to them, on the proviso that we’d exit by the stated 4:00pm curfew of course. Phew. That was lucky. Fortunately the pint was good and went down so well we thought we’d try and see if they’d be prepared to accept some more of our non Venus Bay money even though the joint was now bouncing at near 20% capacity. Joy upon joy this was accepted and we sneaked in a cheeky second pint each. We rebelled the regime a little and didn’t exit the premises until nearly 4:05 leaving the place at maybe 25% capacity. I think we got away with it though! During our fleeting visit it was most noticeable that the locals were cruising in and out as they wished without being given the same warning we were. In fact it was almost impossible to tell who was working there and who was not it was that friendly for the locals. Lucky them! Do yourself a favour before you go and make yourself a Venus Bay Crochet Club t-shirt made so they might think you are local and will afford you more than 30 minutes drinking time. So there you have it. Not the most pleasant 35 minutes of my life. There’s nowhere else to have a pint down there so maybe they just don’t care. And if you’re not in ‘the club’ maybe you’re just not welcome. If that’s their business model it’s not that hard to be polite is it, even if you’re not from around these parts?More

Service at this place is friendly enough but over priced. Charged $15 for an espresso martini which turned out to be poured out of a premade can. This wasn't specified or wouldn't have ordered it. Food had so much potential but really salty (and we...like salt!). As long as this stays one of the few options locally they'll keep surviving but could have done betterMore

Our second visit to the cavity, and the food ,again, was great. Three of us ordered lamb souvlaki, delicious, two had veal schnitzel which was cooked beautifully and served with very good chips and an above average salad, and our other diner was very happy with...his Parma. In all, we enjoyed great food and a good atmosphere except for one thing...... one of the staff members, an older lady, was unpleasant when we first arrived, downright rude when we ordered, and was heard exclaiming” F#$@ing kill me now” to one of the other diners! All the other staff we encountered were lovely. There must be lots of people looking for jobs post lockdown, please employ someone who wants to be there, and keep this lady away from the customers.More

The place was busy and, as we checked out the menu, we had high hopes for our Sunday lunch. Roast lamb with roast veggies and gravy sounded like the perfect thing. What a mistake! When it came and we tasted what looked more like a...pile of mush, it was so disappointing and neither enjoyable nor satisfying. To top it off, the service was miserable and unfriendly and made us feel like we were just a bother. We won’t be returning.More
