We had time to sit and talk. Really just get to know people-like without cell phones stuck in the hands! The food in great and the place is perfect. If you want to step back and relax; this is Eden.

I read somewhere that the Phantom Ranch is the most difficult hotel to reserve in the world. So first we called over a year before to get a reservation. All of our group of 6 called Xanterra and 2 of us actually got through. So a year later we got to actually go there. We planned everything else around this... More

This was a Rim To Rim this trip out. We came down North Kaibab (my GPS said 17.5 miles, not the 14 on the maps), checked in, got showered up (what a luxury), and had an excellent beef stew dinner (3 years ago the stew was fatty and not very good), with great corn bread and a chocolate cake we... These are amazingly great cabins at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. They have to be reserved many months in advance. The setting has to been seen to really believe it exists.

Phantom Ranch is located close to the south rim at the bottom of the canyon. It has a campground, offers some basic food and you can stay in very basic lodges overnight. We just passed by Phantom Ranch on our day trip and did not stay but if you fancy a night in the canyon but do not want to... More

This place is at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and everything there is brought in by mule. The only way to get there is to hike in or ride a mule in, but it's sooooo worth it. The food is amazing and the servers are wonderful!

There never was a more welcoming sight than when we arrived by mule to the oasis of Phantom Ranch. We were warmly greeted with glasses of ice cold water and handed the keys to our cabin. The accomnidations are cabins with bunk beds , a sink and toilet, so running water, electricity, and air conditioning believe it or not. There is... More

We had a 5:00 dinner and arrived at 5:06 which is supposed to be a no no. We were greeted and seated. There were platters of New York Strip Steaks and baked potatoes. Lettuce salad, corn, peas and cornbread. Chocolate cake came later. We talked with a couple that had hiked part of the PCT. After walking eight miles downhill... More
