Staying in the North Tambourine village we quickly heard of the best places in town to eat and one was the 3 pigs. The advice I was given was the pork belly should not be missed and it is a right of passage up here...to have that the first time you go, now I must point out that we did have a late lunch at Clancy’s and with an early close at 3 pigs we had to be there by 7:30. But in true form we got dressed and rocked up dead on 7:30, I see now why I was told to book it was fairly full. The interior has art work on the walls that you could buy, some did look rather nice. Staff very well presented and super polite, I knew what I wanted and the better half went for the steak. Well I can honestly say that this was the largest portion of Pork belly I have ever been served, normally you get that small rectangle or three small squares , but his came out as on generous slice form the bell cut itself, and thick to boot. While the wife was looking at her steak which looked plums and definitely either medium rare or rare and it bounced each time she pressed it, i surgically removed the crackling from the meat and set a side , and yes there will be purist cringing that I did that but I do like to removed that really fatty portion just under the skin and next to the first layer of meat, whoops another set of purist upset, ah well. By which time I was ready to slice me a mouthful off and I noticed that wifey was struggling to cut her steak, now it was not down to the meat, but more to the serrated knife, this steak was cooked so well I suggest a really sharp non serrated knife so it slices through the meat and not actually tears at it, due to the height and plumpness as it makes it roll back and forth. So I sliced her a few morsels to get on with so I could get back to my review, the pork belly !!! So in theory I should stop reviewing food as I found it hard to describe the soft delicate state I found myself in with that first mouthful. I could hear angels calling me “love, love, love” then a sharp pain in my leg brought me too, Karen wanted to tell me about her steak. Half way through I began to roo the late and heavy lunch and I knew I was not going to finish it all , so heed my advice, remain hungry, control yourself, because once you have dined here and feasted on the pork belly you will thank me. Sorry I have to go now need to change the bandage on my shin!, just kidding nothing more than a mere bruise. Thanks for reading TomMore
