Amazing gyukatsu!!! My partner and I found this place on Google and wondered how a restaurant could have an average rating of 4.8 stars with 7000 people rating it. Definitely had high expectations going in, and Motomura did not disappoint! The beef was so soft and literally melted in your mouth, the staff were very patient and showed us how to properly enjoy the meal. With two serves of the gyukatsu and two beers, the meal came to about $50AUD - a bargain compared to the price we would have paid back in Australia for the same meal. We enjoyed it so much we came back for dinner the next day, and ordered the bigger serving! Definitely recommend going to Gyukatsu Motomura - we will 100% be back for more soon.

Loved this spot for dinner. The staff was excellent and if you don't speak Japanese don't worry as they have a staff member that speaks great English. The food...I have nothing to say other than it was amazing. The sauces provided especially the wasabi based one when paired with the meat takes it to a whole nother level. I have one more night left in Osaka and I'm not going to lie but I'm going again. Also just a side note: this place only accepts cash so be sure you have some as the most expensive plate is a double set of meat for 2200 JPY.

They only serve one dish - Gyukatsu (battered beef cutlet ). You can order 4 different varieties - either with/without Yam and the other 2 are just same thing with double the beef cutlets. Staff were very friendly eventhough did not speak english. You can ask for english menu but honestly - there are only 4 different things to choose from. We loved it soo much went there 2ice! The first time we ordered one gyukatsu with and another without yam and a beer. Costs 3200 yen. 2nd time we ordered the same without the beer. costed 2700 yen. both times we came for very late lunch (around 3 pm) and there were no lines at all! RECOMMENDED: Please rub your beef into both sauces AND THEN cook it on the stove. This enhanced the taste of the beef.

This place is delicious! Recommended to me by a relative who frequents Japan. Went around 5pm on a Friday and seated right away. They are very helpful with instructing you how to cook and eat everything in English and the menu had English translation as well. It was my first meal in Osaka and did not disappoint!

First time having Gyukatsu and we loved it. There was a line but in moved fast enough because they only have one thing on the menu:Gyukatsu which is like meat schnitzel but they only pre-cook it and you finish it in your own little grill. They serve it with a not very special miso soup, cabbage salad, white rice and the best sauce to put to your meat. Definitely worth visiting. English menu and English speaking staff. Seats at the bar, not real private tables.

This is the 4th time eating at Gyukatsu Motomura and it shows how good the meal is. I just love the amazingly tender beef that is flash fried then you get to grill yourself. This is the first time at the Namba branch and already had a queue forming 5 mins before the restaurant open. Luckily they managed to fit everyone in and we go in too. Got served by Takuya who is so friendly and could speak 4 different languages. Last day in Osaka. Wonder if I can fit in another Motomura meal? :)

After a long day wondering around Osaka, we wanted a delicious bite to eat. We saw this highly rated gyuatsu restaurant on google and knew we had to eat here! The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and they speak English. The menu is simple with only four options. The meal is a great value and the gyu katsu is the star of it. You have a hot plate in front of you so you can control how cooked you want the beef. Highly recommend !

I lived 6 months in Japan during my exchange period and I’ve eaten many Gyukatsu, but this one is definitely one of the best. The quality of the ingredients is top level, staff is very kind and the atmosphere inside the shop feels very “Japanese”. The restaurant is in the heart of Osaka, so the surroundings are very nice. ご馳走様でした。

Food was really good, the beef was tender and soft! Rice and salad is refillable too. You get to cook the meat on your own for a more intimate experience. Service was really good as well. Totally worth the visit and the wait!

It is all in the experience. Wait times during lunch can be anything from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours - that was how long we waited to be seated. The seating capacity in the restaurant was about 20. My anticipation was building up while waiting and the dish served up did not disappoint at all. For all the gyu-katsu (beef coated in panko and fried) that I have ever tried, this ranks as one of the best. Customers would be given a choice to select three sizes of beef, and a normal serving would comprise of rice in a bowl, one or two pieces of beef (depending on size selection), soup and side dishes of pickles. Beef was served up sliced in half inch slices and the customer does the last part of cooking by searing the slices of beef on an individual hot plate. Went away hoping for me - good thing I ordered the large portion. Thanks Gyukatsu Motomura Namba. Keep it up.

We were curious about this katsu place as we always see a long line of people every day. Decided to try it and had no regrets. It has a unique vibe and most importantly most delicious katsu I have ever eaten. Will definitely recommend!!! 💯
