Very disappointed! The restaurant is small and the fish tank is small too. It’s quite confused how to fish the kind of fish we would like to have. Not recommend to go.

They have menu with all the varieties of cooking for your caught fish. So you can go for a supr simple or super creative option from the menu for each fish type. If you aren't into eating animals, fish included you would not enjoy it.

We reserved a table and were so excited. Chose the set menu. Comes with Tempura, Sushi, All you can drink, and the Fish you catch. Got sat down they explained the rules very well. And we never saw anyone after that. Only other person that...helped us was person who we gave the fish to. Our tempura came an hour an a half later and we had to ask for it. We asked to order our 2nd drink and waitress said our time was over. Very unacceptable service. We asked a waitress she said to hold on and then our time is up. Ridiculous for the amount we paid of $5,500 per person! And they charged us a sitting fee. I was really hoping this was going to be fun. Instead the horrible service made it worst.More

My family enjoyed our dinner and the catch we made. Food was served fresh and very delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful to us.

The staff are all inexperienced, poorly trained and unhelpful, you also only receive some of what you catch. This place could be so good as the idea is great but poor food quality, dreadful staff, dirty toilets and an expensive menu is not the way...to go☹️More

Fancy catching a fish for dinner ? Then you should go to Zauo, nestled on the ground floor of the Shinjuku Washington Hotel. Fishes actually swim in a big tank next to your dining table. Choose the way you want your catch served. I chose...to have half of the fish served sashimi while the other half grilled. The sashimi was 100% fresh. The fish’s fins and eyes were still moving when it was served on my table. Be prepared to pay a little more for this unique experience.More

Came with family of 4 + 2 kids and was introduced to the fishing dinner. During the introduction, only the Sea Bream fishes were mentioned & if caught would cost only 3000+ yen each. Decided on 2 rods and within few seconds caught 2 White...something fishes costing 5000 yen each. Had the fishes done in 4 manners, sashimi, grilled, broiled & fried. The fried one turned out to be good but the sashimi was just too tough to chew. Ordered some other dishes and drinks to complement. Total bill came to 16700 yen (USD165). In comparison, during the past night we had a great Izakaya type dinner for just 5000 yen for two (< USD 50) and on another night at another restaurant for similar quality & cost. Hence for just USD25 each, a great Japanese dinner in Shinjuku should be the norm. Conclusion: A great experience but simply over priced. The fishes in the tank were mainly of that White something but not Sea Bream was deceitful as they would be less costly and be better as Sashimi. Early on upon arrival, noticed a dead fish are the bottom of the tank and another half dead one struggling around & should have just walked out before the dinner. This restaurant should have been more upfront on what one would actually catch rather than attracting us with a less costly Sea Bream when there was hardly any. Catching a fish was not the issue as all the fish were hungry. Good experience but will not return due to the deceitful introduction.More

Fishing for your dinner is a lot of fun, but not when you hook something you weren't prepared to pay for! If you choose to fish in the moat/large tank, be aware that you may hook a so-called 'luxury fish' which may cost you thousands...of yen extra, depending on how many fishing tickets your group purchased. The parrotfish in particular will cost a whopping 7000 yen. You can't choose the fish you catch, you can't throw back the fish once it bites and you can't tell from outside the tank which fish is which, so be prepared in case this does happen. Other than a surprise bill that came with our luxury fish, I enjoyed the regular fishing set. The butter sautéed fish was a standout and the tempura, particularly the lotus root, was light and non-greasy. The fish was prepared very quickly, however be careful of bones when eating. Overall, I thought it was a fun, unique experience, albeit one you would only try once because of the hefty price tag.More

We had a great time fishing. It's good that we had a reservation because when we arrived they had a sign saying that they were full for at least an hour. The fish is as fresh as it gets (they flop around like crazy when...they're caught). We fished a yellow jack and it was really expensive so the three of us shared it (7 cards and each set is 2 cards which you exchange for the fish you catch and pay extra if it's more expensive plus 5 pieces of sushi per person, edame per person, 5 pieces of average tempura per person and one boiled potato per person). You can choose to cook the fish in two ways ( which ones depends on the fish itself). We chose sashimi (it was good to try it and the presentation with the head and all makes for great pictures) and fried (the breading was too thick and the fish was too cooked and dry for my liking). But overall we had a great time and the servers were full of smiles. They stress out that once you catch a fish you can't return it, so be careful what you catch. We also tried a snail but we didn't like it. We asked on the reservation form online to sit on the boat and we had a great table at the top of the boat. From outside it seems to be inside a hotel (inside the doors of the hotel you find a kind of small mall).More
