This was our lunch stop on the Ripon Rotary 100km charity cycle ride. Tom could not have done more for us - endless pots of tea, and he even brought out the packet of shortbread biscuits with the second round 'in case you want to take them with you for the rest of the ride'. Basically Tom brought us the... More

The ideal of a local restaurant with a local following serving simple, good value, food is commendable. The service is friendly, reasonably efficient and the staff certainly seem to care. A lot of other pubs in the area have become part of a chain and it is great to have an independent. However, the food is a bit hit and... More

The team at this troubled establishment is clearly desperate to please. Inexperience shows however. The food is 1980s student fare at 2017 restaurant prices. Each mouthful is accompanied by inquisition from the landlady and staff that stifles conversation and relaxation. What this pub needs is what this village needs - a pub that regulars can enjoy with good pub grub... More

We had a 3 course Sunday lunch and the food was excellent. Gluten free options provided for all 3 courses including gluten free Yorkshire puddings and thick gravy......bliss. Staff are friendly and helpful and we'll definitely be back.

Just been out with friends for a meal at rose and Crown , what a great place to eat we were early but it didn't matter we were shown to our table in the conservatory by a nice young man. Our waitress was excellent telling us about the menu made us feel at ease. The food was excellent and the... More

We were staying at the nearby Goosewood holiday park and decide to try The Rose and Crown. On entering the pub we were immediately greeted warmly. We were seated in the fabulous conservatory. We were given a lovely choice of food on the menu, the chicken kebab and steak pie were both excellent. The cheesecake is to die for and the best I... More

The Rose and Crown has closed again and reopened just before Christmas 2016 with a new landlady. We have enjoyed a few meals there, last night we had the Thursday night steak special. Truly excellent. The menu has been limited but it is growing! A good range of wine and the ale as ever in excellent condition.

Recommend as great value for money, friendly service, would return. I had the roast beef served with fresh vegetables, mash and roast potatoes. My husband had the pork, fab also. The staff are trying so hard to keep this pub going and it needs lots of support.
