About
Authentic Neapolitan cuisine with a hint of Melbourne, that’s 400 Gradi. Home to the award-winning margherita pizza and oh-so-sweet pizze dolce. Where the pizza is baked to 400 degrees and eating dessert first is never frowned upon. A place where fine Italian dining meets a stellar drinks menu, and the chefs can be heard cracking punny pizza jokes from the kitchen. Next door to our Brunswick Venue you’ll find Zero Gradi, a special Gelataria churning out authentic, velvety ice-cream – the sweetest way to finish your 400 Gradi feast. Both stores comprise a family friendly atmosphere. Average price for two people is between $100-$150. We are so grateful that 400 Gradi is our local Italian! The food is always tasty and above all else, their staff is WONDERFUL! They truly go above and beyond. We had guests over for dinner (pre-covid) so we ordered for 4 people on Uber Eats. The driver accidentally picked up the wrong order and we received a tiny side salad and meatballs. Definitely not enough to feed for hungry adults. We phoned 400 Gradi and not only did they rectify this immediately, they also remade our food with an extra pizza AND personally delivered our meal to us. It was also my husbands birthday and he LOVES their tiramisu. I phoned them and they personally made a cake for me to pick up the next day. Highly recommend 400 Gradi. I can honestly say they take pride in their customer service.

What can I say apart from feeling that you would need to be well-off to eat here. The pizza was very good....but are they really worth the price charged? Pasta was really nothing special.....and at this price, you could have 2 pastas at other places....it seriously was nothing you couldn't easily make at home

We did the Pizza Masterclass with Johnny di Francesco and had an incredible time! We were lucky enough to get into their first class after covid and they are limiting numbers which meant there were only 12 of us so the experience felt so personal. Johnny was so friendly and vivacious, sharing his knowledge and experience of not only making true Neapolitan pizza but building his now international restaurant empire. You got the feeling that Johnny really wanted to be there and he sat talking and answering questions long after the class had finished while we were all enjoying our pizza with a few drinks. Definitely an experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves pizza! We will be back to be restaurant patrons for sure!

I do not normally write poor reviews, however I do not like being taken for a sucker either. Whilst food quality was just normal to ok, definitely does not justify paying in excess of 10% more than other similar restaurants in Brunswick and Carlton, worse still was being slugged 15% surcharge on a Public Holiday. Staff very good, friendly and working hard to please so many people and hope the owners look after them properly. Service was also good , but you will never see me back again, you cannot be serious about commanding a premium price for standard run of the mill food.

Not good enough even coming out of lockdown. From the moment we arrived , I was sorry we’d chosen this restaurant for a first meal out of lockdown which also happened to be a birthday. The manager / maître de was having a surly discussion with a person waiting for takeaway (the person was complaining she’d been told several times to return in 5 mins and each time was leaving a baby in the car) only to find each time that her food wasn’t ready and the manager took issue with the customer’s request that she be given an accurate time). When we were eventually greeted, it was with a snarl. Almost all the tables are cramped (literally almost touching) outside. We were told after we’d ordered that the appetisers (which are about $15 to $20 or more) would have to come with the mains (about $35 to $40) supposedly because of the 1.5 hour dining limit. We had to ask for serviettes/ napkins. The food, as always, was tasty. But it was also cold by the time it arrived at the table. All in all, even noting that things are a bit more chaotic at the moment, really not good enough. I’m sure the restaurant (as with all restaurants) will be full for at least a few months but it would be nice to think people might still take some pride in their service.

We were left feeling very disappointed and disrespected after taking our family here for lunch. We waited 30 mins just to have our orders taken despite my husband walking over to them twice asking if we could be served. Once we ordered the food came quick enough however the pasta was cold, the $14 bowl of chips was tiny and not cooked....potato tasted hard and raw. Pizza was soggy and couldn't eat. Extremely disappointing, we expect far better for the price tag that came with that outing for lunch. Would not bother with this place.

I usually don’t like to give negative reviews based on poor service, incase it was just one staff member’s mistake, but three rude staff (out of three) was exceptionally poor. The food was fine, but you can get this quality of pizza everywhere in Melbourne nowadays and at better prices too. Only went here because it was the only place open on New Year’s Day. Would not recommend.

Tonight we went to our favourite Pizza place in Victoria (probably Australia) and the staff were next level. We came in two weeks ago and we had an incredible meal, and we came back for my partners birthday and our last meal before we become 3, and they just made such an effort for us without needing to. The guys were so helpful, friendly, remembered us and made us feel very special and Giulia was incredible. I mentioned we were out for my partners birthday once when we came in. She remembered that until we left and then brought out a beautiful tiramisu for her with a candle and singing the birthday song. They completely when above and beyond for us, and for that we are so grateful and will continue to dine there when we can. P.s if you’re ready this and haven’t been. It is worth it purely for the Arancini Balls... they are insanely good.

We were recommended to eat at 400 Gradi by an italian colleague, and we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and super attentive, the pizza is what 400 Gradi is famous for, and it is truly delicious, but the other dishes are also absolutely delicious: I had the mushroom papadelle and it was fabulous. If you can, sit inside- we were a bit chilly, but it was worth it for the meal.

Love coming here for the pizza. They won the best Margherita in the world for a reason. The base is smooth. The pizzas did get considerably more expensive after they won but still love the ingredients and the nice thin dough base of the pizzas.

I had extremely high hopes for this venue but unfortunately I was disappointed. The food was amazing, lovely authentic tasting pizza however, the entrees come out at the same time as the mains which was quite strange for a high rating restaurant. No doubt the food was great but the service on the other hand.. the waiters continued to rush us the entire experience. From being seated to taking our plates when we weren’t even finished eating?? At the price we were paying to sit down and enjoy a meal the least they could do was let us sit for more than 5 minutes without bothering us about another drink or taking our plates. Definitely won’t be recommending and honestly the staff need to learn some manners and be more considerate to their paying customers.

I was very impressed that the waiter offered us coffee and sweets on the house because my friend ordered mussels and a small number of them were closed -maybe four or five. This often happens with mussels and I don't think she complained or commented on it so it was very attentive of the staff to notice and then make that offer. It was the second time I have been to this restaurant and both times the food has been exquisite. I had a spaghetti seafood dish with lobster Bisque sauce. It was just the right balance, not too heavy. One friend cannot tolerate onion and was able to choose from a number of options after the waiter consulted with the chef. She selected a pasta dish that she was most happy with. My friend who had the mussels also had a red wine that she raved about. I chose a Mojito which matched the Cuban versions I have had. The staff checked all was in order without hovering the way waiters annoyingly do at some restaurants. We stayed late as we had a lot of catching up to do but there was no pressure to leave once we finished our meal which also happens at some restaurants.

This restaurant has inside and outside dining options, with wheelchair access to inside. My husband and I shared an entree of calamari which was fantastic. It was very thinly sliced and lightly fried with eggplant, very tasty. For mains my husband had crumbed veal with coleslaw and I ordered lasagna with a side salad of rocket, snow peas and snap peas. All the pastas are homemade so my lasagna was delicious as was the salad. I would definately recommend this restaurant if you want good food.

I can tell you i have become a bit of a guru on spaghetti marinaras around Melbourne and abroad and for my first visit, this venue, 400 Gradi, left me sorely disappointed and swindled to be blunt. The menu listed the above item as a spectacularly mouth watering choice at over $40 and for that price my expectations soared high, so 'what the heck', i thought. The service and the ambience nothing to complain about really. When the dish arrived, it did look a little wanting, a dryish appearance heaped up on the plate and without any sign of a sauce or oil base evident at the perimeter, i became curious. A reasonable serve of spaghetti but where is the seafood. Let me tell you what i paid for and sorry to be so menial: 2 medium size prawns only. 2 thin 10 cent size shavings of what i thought to be 'scallops'. 5 pippies with hardly enough meat to fill half a teaspoon max. 3 mussels in shells, one morsel missing. Zia Teresa is opposite and does much much better. Currently the best marinara in melbourne is Piccolino blackburn Rd Mount Waverley. Make sure Pauly is rostered on.

Enjoyed a delicious dinner with family recently. The food is genuine Italian specialising in seafood dishes. Everything was to perfection. The kids chose pizzas and really enjoyed them. The Linguine Alla Pescatora and Spaghettini Al Granchio were to die for! Desserts were also wickedly nice! Very friendly service. We would love to come back soon if only the parking in this area improved...it took us almost half an hour looking for a spot and that was on a Tuesday night! A bit embarrassing if you’re invited at 7 and turn up at 7:30! But I realise it’s not the restaurants fault. It pays to allow extra time.
