Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautifully decorated and stylish restaurant with reasonable good food. Prices are okay. Order via form and pay at the cashier/reception first.

We had set meals along with tea, the food was tasty and reasonably priced. The staff do not speak much English, but are friendly and it was possible to order and pay without much fuss. Would recommend the kumquat tea, which we ordered with honey...rather than sugar. Very tasty.More

We went in with an open mind to try different dishes, but ended up having only a hot pot. The hot pot was quite good but an explanation of how to eat would have been helpful. The staff spoke almost no English and weren't helpful...at all.More

The ordering process: We were given an English menu as we entered and invited to choose our own seating. The seating is extensive including upstairs and indoor/outdoor. Make selections using the clipboard and order form found on the table, include your table number, go to...the entrance to pay, then wait for food to arrive. Location: About ten minutes walk from the Hualien train station - uneven footpaths would make heavy wheeled suitcases not ideal. Close to Meci Hotel. The food: The four of us ate for around $35SG. Food only, no drinks. Good quality food served within 20 minutes during a busy lunchtime service.More

There's no signage in English. The way this place works is you grab a mini-clipboard from the counter with a paper order form (each menu item has a number and the price, with a checkbox). You grab an open table, fill out your order form...by checking off what you want. You indicate on the front fold if it's dine-in or take-out and your table number. You then queue up at the cashier to order and pay (while the rest of the party occupies the table). The wait staff bring your items to your table as they are prepared. The order form is entirely in Chinese, but that have a binder with an English language menu with some photos and explanation of most of the numbered items on the order form. Set dinners include the entree (e.g., a medium sized roasted milkfish), rice, soup, green beans and pickled cabbage, plus NT$50 credit towards a drink order. The food was tasty, although the edamame was really spicy hot! Ambience was nice, reminiscent of a tea-house as long as you weren't sitting next to the ordering counter. Wait staff were attentive and quick to offer assistance in English.More

The hotpot at Wang’s tea house was tasty and the ingredients fresh. The hot and spicy broth was delicious. Overall the restaurant was nicely renovated and modern and the prices were relatively reasonable for the quality and quantity (~600 NTD for 2 hotspots and with...2 cold teas).More

I would still recommend this restaurant but also recommend that their management has a word to their staff. The place is coassy & has potential. We had a hotpot (each)... turned out to be way too big. Should have one per couple. Really 'Zen' atmosphere....Nice food. Staff seemed disinterested & bored. Also condescending.More

Meal for 3 that filled us up to the brim together with different bubble teas all cost only NTD700. Food was delicious – must try the braised beef with rice and the minced pork noodles. Renovation into a Japanese style cottage has made the place...look great as well.More

I ask for a high chair for baby, there was one available in the first floor but the staff was too lazy to get me one and told me theres non left. Not enough staff too take care the customer, wait for 15 minuets to...pay the bill and the staff had to take care the bill and make drinks in the same time. No wonder the service horrible!More

It's my first dinner in Hua Lien. Hot pot and tea were really good, much cheaper than NYC. and than It was confusing to figure out how to order. I've been sitting outside for a while, no one came to serve me. I went back...inside learned that I had to find a table, write down my order and hand it back to the cashier downstairs. Meals were served very fast after I hand in my order. I would rate 5 stars if the can make it easier for me to order.More

My wife looks Chinese so they didn't give us an English menu. After a few #googletranslatefails , they gave us the English menu. Tea is available in a few pages of variety. It also comes with a meal in a set if you pay a...bit more. Prices are higher than average but you pay for the atmosphere. Staff are friendly. Tea is of decent quality.More

Quick recap at Wang Tea house after last night eating here: - The first thing that hit us is the beautiful architecture of the place. It was done quite well and derserved a thorough look to appreciate it. The top floor was meh though -...Food: we ordered the minced meat on rice, braised pork rice and hot beef noodle and 3 diff kind of tea, one is the green bubble milk tea. Both the minced meat and braised pork was on par, but the noodle was definitely a miss for both of us. The broth was cooked with a lot of herb (medicinal herb) and gives off a strong aroma and taste that neither of us like. Westerners beware to not order this if you have not experienced noodles in Taiwan before. - The drink size was bigggg! And all 3 tasted good to very good! - The price was okie, above medium of the market rate for sure.More
