Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You get a real sense of the look and quality of these pastries as they sit in the case and as you enjoy eating them. We ate in and also took out a set of their special marshmallows - well worth the money. Hot chocolate was especially good. Iced mint missed the mark for the money. Lemon tart was like a lemon meringue pie reinvention. Lovely and tasty. A pastry that looked like a blue wave was ordered by many patrons. Seating seemed haphazard when busy. No one was really in charge and that's why only 4 stars. A big shortcoming for such an elegant place.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was bustling! It was competitive to get a seat and to place one's order. Tea, coffee and pastries were all top notch --especially the cheese cake (looks like a yellow dome.) Service was friendly and efficient. Biggest downside (beside the pricing) was the customers were kind of snobby/obnoxious some of the time. Two women sat next to us, for example, and made fun of us in Chinese, thinking we couldn't understand what it was they were saying. Upstairs and downstairs. Nice bathroom on the first floor.

We come from Queensland, Australia and were on a family trip looking for a good coffee when we discovered this hidden treasure in Hualien. It has an outstandingly delectable patisserie assortment and produces an excellent coffee to match. The staff are very friendly and one of them conveniently spoke excellent English. It's a 15-20 minute walk from the train station so its a great place to go to if you have time to kill. The only negative aspect was that the latte was slightly under temperature, but otherwise we strongly recommend this place if you're looking for a decent coffee!

We discovered this place on a recent visit to Hualien city. We arrived just after opening time and we were able to get a table immediately. The store is set up in a modern industrial style but rather than being unwelcoming I felt it helped draw attention to their main business focus, their wonderful cakes. The kitchen at the back of the store has a glass wall so you can stand and watch cakes being made should you wish to. There was a decent number of cakes available and all looked delicious. Though we can't remember the names of the cakes, one was basically chocolate and the other passion fruit flavour. Both were equally good in quality and taste. (See photos) We also had coffee with the cake and it was also much to our liking. Truth be told this little cafe would not be out of place in the streets of France. My only wish would be that they had a few more cakes to choose from.
