The lady who served us was extremely rude. Did not greet us and argued about food that was available being a stat day. Cut down the menu as assumed we were drinking. Tables not cleared or clean. Atmosphere has depleted. Toilets were rank! Toilet paper...everywhere, most were out of order. Waited 45mins for food that was less than average. Terrible people running this place!More

Oh dear. The saddest service, the poorest menu. Some of us ordered a kiwi burger which lacked beetroot, so bought some from the next door store. The ceasar salad was the chicken schnitzel(off the menu) cut up and added to the same salad that was...in every meal. Expensive, poor service, move onto the cardrona hotel which had staff that are awesome and good affordable food.More

We were greeted by a lady who was not pleasant and we were made to feel like we were an imposition. There was a blackboard menu, a specials menu and a printed menu, all different, which is great, however, 3/4 of all the dishes were...either unavailable or out-of-stock which was very frustrating. The food that we did manage to order, was average at best. The tables were sticky and a dog was wandering in and out of the kitchen. Probably won't be back.More

An historic pub with incredibly friendly staff and fabulous food. Lots of events to be shared with the locals and newcomers. E.g the bark off... so much talent

We called into the cafe this morning for coffee. The cafe was dark & Uninviting & the woman serving did not engage with us in any way...a smile & hello would have been good!! We felt we were interrupting her morning by being there. Will...not return.More

Dropped in to pick up some hot chips for lunch to take away. Walked through the door and got hit by the smell, like an old house that has had no windows opened for a decade and fatty stale food cooked in it. Awful. Surly...staff finally served me, no greeting. What do you want? Got a bag of very average hot chips. No salt! Bloody awful. Not going back.More

Capable staff coping efficiently at a busy Sunday lunchtime. Reasonable range of cabinet food and this of excellent quality. Loved the atmosphere, authentic NZ, relaxed and easy. Plenty of parking suitable for older persons with limited mobility. Good coffee. Recommended.

My chicken wrap arrived with lettuce drooping onto the table. I asked when it had been prepared and was told the evening before however it had been stored in the chiller. Her tone was dismissive. The chicken was crumbed, chewy & tasteless with the appearance...of a leftover chicken McNugget. The lettuce was slimy & brown. As we left I took the lettuce back and suggested that she show it to the person who had prepped the wrap. She replied that she had already told me the reason.... I was reprimanded! No apology, just a surly terse & rude response.More

We enjoyed a pleasant dinner and drink in a "quirky"outdoor area, service was prompt and lovely atmosphere. Well worth a stop in this gorgeous old pub.

Okay for a beer, not much more though. The café is non-existent, food options were fairly limited to typical pub fare – no real vegetarian options, hospitality was lacking – our presence felt like an inconvenience for the host. If you want to see an...old-style pub you could visit, but if you are looking for a range of food options and some friendly hospitality head somewhere else.More
