I can feel my life ebbing away The desire to do something...anything!...being slowly sucked out of me As The Jam play in the background, competitive with the BBC parliamentary channel on the TV...wtf is that all about?....I can see my life decent towards the inextricable decision about whether to go for the 2 fof 1 deal on Chilli con Carne... It is not unusual that you can go out on a Friday night and see an unwatched TV screening third rate football or some dozy golf tournament. Yet the Governor's has teach a new peak of pointless TV. Today's programme was a Parliamentary Select Committee on Hate Crime - with the sound turned down so that we could all hear... More

We booked and were shown our reserved table in an annexe near a large group of people. The noise was unbearable and we had to move to a quieter part of the pub. 3 of us ordered roast beef dinners only to be told they had run out of beef. Opted for the chicken instead which arrived more like grilled... More

Warm and friendly welcoming arrival, we may have been first in but they were set up and ready to go. Sunday papers on a high table first caught my eye usually a good sign. A good layout open but with lots of private areas. Food was well priced , pub standards done to a good quality. A good range of... More

The first thing that strikes you as you arrive on a dark Feb evening is the beautifully illuminated tree, with its warm welcome, which is continued by the house, decor and staff. Friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Rooms are a good size, with all you need and the food and breakfast is awesome. For anyone exploring this beautiful part of... More

We had our wedding reception here, it was easy to book, easy to tailor and the staff were really helpful in the planning. We arrived on the day and they'd put all my table decs out for me, the food was out and we had our own private section. They'd even taken the details from our guest book and scanned... More

I had a lovely meal of Salmon, potatoes and seasonal vegetables with a jug of lemon sauce. I cannot fault the meal. I requested the 'buttered' potatoes to be served without butter and it was not a problem. Lovely pub meal at a good price. I will happily eat here again.

Unfortunately after deciding on this venue for Christmas dinner we had a very disappointing experience Service was very slow, we had to initiate every contact....to be shown to our table...to receive starters...for the starters to be cleared etc No Christmas spirit whatsoever, staff were visible stressed and didn't want to be there. Food was very poor quality, starters were tasteless,... More
