Is chicken in season in October in the Food Valley of Italy? That is the mystery of our dinner at this Michelin starred restaurant. The experience didn’t start well and the food didn’t make up for the unengaged and awkward service and stiff environment. We...opted for the “CON I PIEDI PER TERRA” menu. With a focus on meat and supposed seasonal ingredients. We were disappointed at every turn. The most truly unexpected and unenjoyable of the 5 course tasting menu was the gamy chicken stuffed ravioli as the “primo” course after two forgettable appetizers. Of all that we tasted, the chocolate brownie bite as part of the complimentary petit fours at the end of the meal was the most enjoyable. The service was also second rate. We were left with the bread basket and empty wine glasses during our dessert course. No mention of after diner drinks options or cafe. Exiting the restaurant to the open crips air of Reggio was the other highlight of the evening. One and definitely done.More

When after a 5-course menu you are not able to decide which plate was your favorite because you absolutely loved everything, you understand better what is perfection! We had the fish menu and it was a wonderful journey of harmony, taste and attention to details....We also appreciated a little chat with the chef Andrea explaining his philosophy and a visit to the fantastic vegetable garden producing the fresh food used everyday in the restaurant. We will be back for sure!More

We had a great evening near Reggio Emilia in this restaurant. Five courses, great wine, good service. The first course with aubergine and cherry tomatoes was divine. As were the tortelloni.

We had a beautiful wedding meal at this Michelin Star restaurant...the food was exquisite and beautifully presented. Our Scottish and Italian family came together to celebrate a recent marriage and we were not disappointed with the food or the staff. The grounds of the restaurant...are lovely and as it is in the middle of the country it was very peaceful and picturesque....well worth the flight from Scotland to Italy.More

The team of Ca' Matilde made a perfect evening possible for us. We enjoyed the 5- course-menu "Gli intramontabili" with the corresponding wine menu. Every course was fantastic, the wines were excellent and service was perfect. The menu was complemented by an amuse-gueule, a pre-dessert...and pralines after the dessert. Thank you very much.More

Went here as part of our cooking class and met the chef and assisted in preparing our lunch. Luckily he was heavy handed in the work and the result was spectacular. I have never had such a great meal and the setting was also perfect....If you are in the area, you must go.More

This is a restaurant that you could easily find in London or Manhattan... and it's in the middle of nowhere in the country nearby Reggio. The flavours of the food, refined and researched, together with the most attentive and professional service make it one of...my favourite of all times. Top wine list. My wife and I celebrated her 50th birthday after having tried it before and we had the most careful attention we could dream of. Thanks, and congratulations.More

This is an excellent restaurant. It's a little off the beaten track in the countryside, but such a find. A superb menu and wine list. Each course is presented so well and the food is delicious. Tasters to start and end the meal were a...real treat. The service was so professional yet very friendly. Make sure you have the correct directions and visit Ca' Matilde if you are in the area.More

I came across this place by pure serendipity! The kitchen is sophisticated although accessible price wise. The service is magnificent and the surroundings even better. If you finally find the restaurant after a complicated driving, you will be compensated by a heavenly experience!

In the middle of nowhere in the Emiglia-Romana region, close to the city of Canossa, lies the little Ca' Matile, a Michelin recommended (I think, one star) restaurant with a couple of nicely decorated rooms in their guest house. The patron is a very warm...and heartily person who makes sure that every guest leaves her restaurant fully satisfied. We had a six course-seafood degustation menu (60 EUR) with a delicous variety of accompanying wines (25 EUR). The dishes were creative and perfectly prepared. The service was attentive and very friendly, although their command of English was not perfect. If you're on your walk to Canossa, make sure you stop by there. ;-)More
